    I don’t know, but trying to get umpires to actually be accountable would be tough to negotiate, the union will take a tough stance on that

    following the mass resignations in 1999 because the umpires could not strike according to their agreement 22 umpires were not allowed to rescind their resignations and they became permanent. This failed negotiation tactic is used as a model as to what not to do in a negotiation for union contracts. That union is no longer , the umpires belong to a new union now
