  1. I'll take Addison, and it looks like they got it right but he wasn't a BPA pick, they picked him because they knew they weren't going to keep Thielen. Pretty much everyone had Nolan Smith, Myles Murphy, Brian Breese and Joey Porter higher rated. I'm glad they got him over those guys at this time, but I really doubt he was their highest graded player, unless they were weighting their highest graded player based off of what position they wanted. Heck of a coincidence if he was. Like the time they drafted Justin Jefferson after losing Stefon Diggs, Laquan Treadwell after the Mike Wallace deal didn't work out, Cordarrelle Patterson after Percy Harin was traded and Troy Williamson after Randy Moss was traded. Funny, works out that way every single time when they need a receiver.
  2. Great news, and well deserved! But apparently it wasn't 'clear in recent weeks' because he looked like a lock prior to to tonight but barely got in. I guess the voters who don't show their work fear the wrath of Twins fans!
  3. My hope is that if the team finally commits to one path, like the rebuild, his drafts will be crafted completely differently. Like most teams, you probably go get your QB, O line and D line. You fill out from there. (Personally, I'd do QB and the defensive front seven and spend every free agent dime on the O line). The team's last two drafts were basically just continuing the Frankenstein's Monster approach of desperately trying to patch things up. Oh, Thielen's going to be released? Get a WR. Our DBs are awful? Use most of our picks there. We can make these fixes on the fly and nobody will notice!
  4. I'm not giving up on them, but I'm reserving the right to be critical. I hate the half-measure approach and this organization seems to live there. It's getting frustrating.
  5. The Bears still have a lack of talent and I'd say they're no better, but yeah, this is the most talent devoid Vikings team in a long time. However, I will put a lot of that on Spielman and ownership. They were the ones who continued to kick the can down the road putting off having to deal with the ageing veterans. Adofo-Mensah partook in that game the last two years, but that was likely at the behest of ownership. But I'm also more critical of him than most regarding his last two years of roster building, and I'm far from in agreement with others that last year's draft was good or even average. Addison looks like he'll be decent, but he was far too inconsistent and had lots of mental lapses. For being an NFL-ready prospect, he should have stolen the show when Jefferson was out most of the year, yet, that's when he disappeared most. I'm optimistic, but still TBD on him.
  6. I'm not giving them credit for drafting Pace, he came here on his own volition, and certainly only because the LB group was so bad that this was his best chance to make a team and play. And he was right, he probably doesn't get a starting job week two anywhere else. I'm glad they have him, but he wasn't some slick scouting coup by this team, he was the top UDFA available and if they REALLY wanted him, they would have used a draft pick on him.
  7. Comparing the location to Google Maps, I count 17 new high-rises in that rendering. I'm thinking if Reinsdorf finds a way to get a cut of those developments, he might find it in his heart to avoid taking TOO much public money. Also, this S Wells street is so new that Google doesn't even have a street view on it yet. I'm sure the tax payers will get reimbursed for this newly built street that will be demo'd.
  8. I think that would depend on what Adofo-Mensah and ownership discuss about a game plan for next year. If they don't re-sign Cousins or Hunter, there's next to no chance ownership would be expecting them to have a winning record next season. If they're preparing for a rebuild, which only makes sense at this point, I think the GM and coach are safe for at least another season. If they retain those two, I agree, both GM and coach will face the music, even though I don't think anyone should be expecting anything resembling a happy season even if they did.
  9. Makes me feel better about the Vikings QB situation. Even though at this point it isn't a situation so much as it is an empty bucket.
  10. Looking at their schedule, I realize I watched six 49er games this year. They looked excellent vs the Cowboys, Seahawks and Giants. And looked terrible vs the Vikings, Ravens and Packers. This team is way more inconsistent than the national pundits discuss.
  11. Yeah, hope that sticks with him and dampens his aggressiveness in the future. This would seem to be the kind of mistake that could stick in the back of your head.
  12. Wow. Well I'll take it, but that was probably the dumbest interception I've ever seen. I mean, that was 100% self glory right?
  13. I don't want OT. GB has looked like the far better team today.
  14. Please score, but do so with less than 20 seconds? I don't want Love having a chance to go down and tie thus building up his mythos.
  15. The three remaining AFC teams are watching all of this and drooling.
  16. Right, Vikings big misses are as time expires.
  17. I know I'm an annoying doofus about this guy, but I still don't understand how Anthony Prato isn't near the top of everyone's wish list of prospect promotions. Only moderate power, but top end OBP, positional flexibility and reasonable stolen bases (which I don't care about) at all levels. This guy looks like Ben Zobrist to me. I'm honestly more bullish on him than the bigger names like Martin and Severino. No need to tell me how wrong I am, I know this is a nicksaviking island.
  18. Some, but most of it is aging. Deebo's contract isn't easy to get away from, can they keep Aiyuk too? Not that he's exactly young. The OL isn't young, McCaffery is old for a RB and 7 of their defensive starters will be 27 or higher next year. That's not a kiss of death on defense, but that's peak at best years. And I truly don't dislike Purdy, I just don't think he's "the guy". Certainly could have a fantastic career. He's young though, he could be the guy I'd want two years from now.
  19. If they don't move Kepler or Polanco, and they won't pay for a Rhys Hoskins or a Justin Turner, they should stay put with the offense. All of the internal options have significantly higher offensive ceilings than Hicks. Don't put more roadblocks in front of the young guys, lately they have pretty much always been the best options.
  20. There will be a ton of 'free' players, or players making league minimum. They need one offensive upgrade, and then just find these free guys who will take MiLB deals they can stick in AAA. I mean they can do that if they want these free players, but I'd just as soon leave them alone.
  21. I don't even want to contemplate a Lions-Packers NFC Championship. Man, I'm suddenly the biggest Baker Mayfield fan.
  22. And from the whining, it sounds like the wrong cleats had an impact in the fist half. So my question would be, why was the HOME team slower at changing cleats than the away team? Seems like they should have had a better understanding of their own stinking field! I'm ready to move the 49ers way up my "I hate you for irrational reasons" list.
  23. I really don't like the way Love has developed the last half of this year.
  24. But Hicks would be replacing Larnach, Gordon or Martin. Is that really an upgrade? Seems pointless to add any bat that's not significantly better. The next most "replaceable" players are Farmer and Castro, who aren't being replaced. The Twins just aren't in a position to give a guaranteed contract to a guy like Hicks until/unless they start removing the vets like Kepler or Polanco.
  25. McCaffery, Kittle and Samuel are pretty old for their positions and their best defensive players are all 27+. It's possible we're seeing the end of this excellent run by the 49ers but just didn't realize it. The Rams could re-take this division next year and not look back until they have to transition QBs.
