  1. Do you think $30/3 is too much? Too little?? Good point on Kepler over Polanco Polanco has 2 pre-Arb years so Twins could keep him under $600K both years Someone will choose not to sign an extension into FA years I just picked Kepler in this scenario...could be Polanco with Gordon or Javier taking over for Minimum Wage
  2. That "might" be a bit high...but I do think they will try to resign him, whether we like it or not Dozier's extension is direct from Seth's original dive into the offseason which kind of inspired the spreadsheet madness In reading the comments to Buxton and Sano I upped the numbers from those posts Biggest question is do you think the 1st National Bank of Pohladsville will allow the Payroll to grow this much in the next 6 years? Names and numbers would obviously move and change for each slot 2017: • 108M 2018: • 120M • 16% 2019: • 127M • 5.8% 2020: • 130M • 2.4% 2021: • 144M • 10.7% 2022: • 158M • 9.7% 2023: • 159M • 0.6% Feel like free to make a copy of the Twins Payroll Tool and plug in your own What/Ifs
  3. Here's a look at one possible 6 year scenario where the core young guns (Buxton, Sano, Rosario, Berrios, Polanco) are extended (had to save a few dollars somewhere so hoping Kepler would take an Arb Year buyout) as well as keeping the old foagies (Dozier, Mauer) around for a few more seasons Includes Free Agent signings of Kintzler and Chatwood for 3 years and a little Dead Pool Money in case anyone gets traded and salary needs to be eaten 2018 Extension Total Dollars Committed: $315M 2018 Free Agent Dollars Committed: $54M 2019 Extension Total Dollars Committed: $107.5M 2019 Joe Mauer 3 year (please get to 3000 hits contract: $30M Think of the manilla colored cells as just placeholders for the positions in the future (other than the extension folks) and it gives an idea how expensive the team will get (a little more than cost of living increases) All of this and maybe even a little more should be quite doable when you consider the added attendance and merchandise sold from 7 straight trips to the playoffs (counting 2017) 4 American League Championships and 2 World Series Titles Here's the chart...fire away in the comments
  4. Great series Seth...here's what the updated running total of the Extension Series would look like using the Twins Payroll Tool $116 Million for 2018 with Kintzler at $5M $6M $7M and Chatwood at $12M $12M $12M Will the Pohlad's release that many Moth's from the old Wallet?
  5. Either you believe in these guys or you don't...Cleveland model even locked up Yan Gomes ($6.03M $7.08M) early which may be an over-spend while Jose Ramirez ($2.8M $4.15M $6.65M $9.40M) looks like a bargain Here's a look at things with Seth's Extension ideas for Dozier and Buxton along with Kintzler for $5M $6M $7M (total guesstimate) Chatwood for $12M $12M $12M (maybe a hope-timate) Using the Twins Payroll Tool
  6. Here's a Darvish + Ohtani scenario with a Kintzler thrown in (Ohtani won't get the $10M shown as Twins don't have that much left...it is offset by the Kintzler minimal raise, he will get paid more than that) Be the GM with the Twins Payroll Tool
  7. Shoot me any links to projected Free Agent Salaries and I'll update the sheet
  8. Need to enter Salary info in Millions $14,000,000
  9. All the talk about affording the Future Twins got me started messing around with a Google Spreadsheet that I'll share here Twins Payroll Tool You will need to make a copy of the File to be able to make changes Only Free Agents (including those with Opt Out and Options) along with most 40-man Twins are included with Salary info I was able to find To change players just start typing name of Twin or Free Agent you want for each position, Select there name and the Salary Info will fill in (Tip: Type in 2B and only those with 2B designation will show) If you want to enter your own contract info, for say Buxton, use the IM THE GM tab and manually enter your Proposed Contract to see how much it's going to cost to keep the team together You can add players not listed along with contract info if you really think that Tyler Jay will be the closer next year Use if you'd like...take a Screen Shot of your Roster and post it for all to drool over
  10. Can we be sure that these 9 people are really that nice? ;-) "Nice people voted for the award. Twins Daily founders Seth Stohs, Nick Nelson, John Bonnes and Parker Hageman all voted. Twins Daily writers Tom Froemming, Cody Christie, Jeremy Nygaard, Steve Lien and Ted Schwerzler also cast their votes."
  11. Too many relievers that have "moxie" and "guile" in the bullpen in the playoffs is not a good combination Nothing halts a rally better than a strikeout and when the pressure picks up that fine line a control pitcher walks gets even finer...over long season a guy like Gee is awesome...eats innings, throws strikes, fools guys going for stats...in October nothing beats high heat or nasty cutters/sliders Look at Curtiss last night...basically blasting fastballs at 95-97, save for the 40 foot change-up that sent the umpire running for cover, at the belt or higher and getting outs...hitters ability to square up 97 is much more difficult than 90 (unless you're a RP running on MT) It will be fun to watch Tuesday as anything can happen...pressure is all on NYY...the Twins just get to play another game...or 20
  12. This should happily end this thread!!! Well deserved fellas!
  13. Moya added to 40-man on September 12th https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/09/twins-designate-engelb-vielma-for-assignment.html
  14. To me this seems like Moya would not be eligible unless he's replacing an injured player From: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-eligibility Players must be on the 40-man roster, the 60-day disabled list or the bereavement/family medical emergency list as of midnight ET on Aug. 31 to be eligible for their respective clubs' postseason rosters. Consequently, players that are acquired via September trades or signed as free agents in September are ineligible for postseason play. Clubs can petition the Commissioner's Office to add any player that was not on the 40-man roster as of Aug. 31 -- provided the player was in the organization on Aug. 31 and is replacing a player who has spent at least 60 days on the 60-day disabled list. The Royals were able to use this tactic to add Brandon Finnegan to their roster during the 2014 postseason, despite the fact that Finnegan was not on the 40-man roster as of Aug. 31. Additionally, all players who have served part of a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs in a given season are ineligible for postseason play that year.
  15. Any restrictions on who can be on the playoff roster? I understand they had to be on 40-man roster by midnight 8/31 correct?
  16. And then there was ONE!
  17. Apologies to all those Ray's fans out there...here's a corrected image
