I'll start a new thread this week...or is it next week...I can say with 100% certainty it won't be last week

It ain't over til it's over...or until the Big Japanese dude sings (darn auto-correct) signs! What's lost if the Twins wait for Darvish to decide? Better to wait it out and miss out on him then to bail while there's still a Lloyd Christmas chance at signing him Have to believe that Levine doesn't have some assurances from the Darvish team that they will give the Twins a chance to match/beat his bestest offer...if there was no chance they would have moved on to the next piece who of course won't commit until Darvish does for fear of signing at too big a discount...which Falvine already know what that will be because of the aforementioned assurances with Team Darvish I choose to be the blind optimist and just wait for the February 6th (Super Bowl will be old news) Twins presser introducing the newest Twin...

I was gonna reply to this but I'm not even sure where to begin

I hate to be non-analytical in this day and age but all the discussion on K%, swgmis%, K-9 (underated movie in the early career of Tom Hanks...oh wait that was Turner and Hooch) fWAR, bWar, Spin Rate are fantastic in OOTP, Strat-o-Matic, The Show...it comes down to this Teams must look at where they have a need, who's available to fit that need, what other teams will try to acquire their target and ultimately how much they can afford to pay for that guy It would be awesome if every year the youngest stathead leaders were available and everyone could pick and choose...not the case. Darvish by most accounts is the top starting pitcher available. Sure he has issues but he's the top guy in the top need position of our lovable local nine this off season. Find out his price and pay it if it fits long term. I certainly hope the ability to win now is a stronger catalyst than how bad the contract MIGHT be 5 years from now. If another team thinks he's more valuable than your offer, so be it, match them or move on. Is Darvish a better option than Gibson, Mejia, pick your 5th guy this year? Next year?? The year after??? If you think so you pay the going rate...if you don't then look at other options It seems a bit perplexing to me that some consider signing Darvish will be bad for the future...but trading away multiple future assets for a starter doesn't have the same future consequences?? To me mortgaging the future in player assets just doesn't outweigh a possible overpay for atop of the rotation starter, an area that the Twins have been lacking since the days of Matthew LeCroy...oh and Johan!

Here's the 6 year payroll view of the Crew from across the St. Croix (until they make another move) Here's a link to view the sheet if the image is too hard to read

Slow day on the corner of Haight and Ashbury...why you would take the time to find this can only be attributed to the lack of action this Cold Stove season Nice take of the young skinny kid brother from Ogden/Great Lakes...wonder how he turned out Speaking of the Dodgers farm system..."Honestly, there isn’t a ton to love in this farm system" Bellinger Verdugo DeLeon Stewart Urias Hindsight and all

One Word...They want to re-sign JD Martinez They will eat money back in the deal if it clears enough to re-sign JD (or at least that's my take on this hypothetical starting point)

Signing this week is a plus for the Twins...next week will be all-SuperBowl all-the-time, with it in Minnesota any news of a Darvish signing would get lost...it's either this week or the week before spring training It's also quite possible that the Cubbies will make it a clean sweep of high priority Twins Targets Duensing....Giminez and Darvish Me Thinkee it will be Greinke if Darvish fails It's time the Twins deal with the D-Backs for something other than a backup catcher Gordon Pearson Baneulos (what's a D-Back trade without a catcher) We eat $100M on Greinke contract

Ok so I'm a little late with MLB Pipeline having already revealed RH Pitchers, LH Pitchers, Catchers and First Sackers But prior to partaking in a preponderance of Purple Panic how about starting the weekend with a little Lewin Love! That's right #9 is still better than #10 and with Gonsalves holding down the #9 spot in the best LH Pitcher category it looks like we can expect Lewis to be #9 at SS Do the Twins place anyone else in the top 10 at any other position?

Forgot to include Reed Thanks for the cross check Reed $8.5M (Guesstimate on how contract is broken down) Castro $8M Santana $14M option (with vesting?) Rodney $.25M Pineda $8M Hughes $13.2M Park $3M (unless someone can show where it has been voided) $54.95M

Did see a quick retraction (or is it a retwaction when it's on twitter) from Berardino What's your take on how the 40-man dilemma will shake out Seth?

The early idea floated that Moya was going to be dropped just doesn't seem like a good long term plan While Boshers has had his moments I have to ask "Who would pick him up?" Twins have been one of the only teams to employ, soft-throwing, funky-delivery guys from the Independent scrap heap Moya seems to have more upside if we're looking toward a more prosperous future My drop order would be 1) Boshers 2) Kinley (we're in spend mode so whats another $50,000 to send him back) 3) I'd look to move Pressly, Grossman as part of a trade 4) Enns 5) Sell Vargas to the Ham Fighters for 3 Round trip tickets to Yu's homeland

Slightly bigger point to 2019 Reed $8.5M (Guesstimate on how contract is broken down) Castro $8M Santana $14M option (with vesting?) Rodney $.25M Pineda $8M Hughes $13.2M Park $3M (unless someone can show where it has been voided) Sorry to say but that's $54.95M for those 7...3 of who may not contribute at all Just a little sun shower on an otherwise Bright Sunshiny Day!

Added an 8th BP spot to my Twins Payroll Tool sheet (if you make a copy of the latest version it will be updated)

By my count that puts the 40-man at 41...Personally hoping for a trade to clear it up Who do you think gets dropped? Enns Boshers Duffey
  24. tvagle
Still need to fill that 5th starter spot....hmmm

Here's up to date image of Salary Obligations Had to make a choice in the bullpen and Duffy lost a coin flip
