  1. If you take them out to dinner, bring your check-book.
  2. Twins Website roster lists Sano at 6-4 260 and Arcia at 6-0 225. If you add 4" to your height and 35# to your weight, are you then too heavy to play LF/RF? I don't think so.
  3. If he "has never played outfield before", he will be the first baseball player to claim that. And how can you decide in advance, with no evidence, that he would be "a significant defensive liability", when baseball men, who have actually seen him play countless games and practices disagree? You don't know that!
  4. Size alone can't keep Sano out of the outfield. If it slows him down, THAT could be the determining factor. I saw Anthony Munoz (NFL HOF Offensive Tackle) play baseball at Chaffey HS (CA) and USC (on a National Championship team) at 6'6" 285# and he was incredibly quick for a behemoth. In those days, even O-lineman were seldom that big. He pitched, played a slew of positions and ran better than anyone else on his HS baseball team. He might have been a catcher, but the plate umpire wouldn't be able to see the strike zone. If Sano is that quick (questionable?), he could be a very good outfielder
  5. Not many right now, but Dmitri Young was 6'-2" 295# and Walter Young was 6'-5" 320#.
  6. On the Twins' website roster, the infielders' section lists Santana and Sano; and the outfielders' section lists Escobar. WHY?
  7. It's all epidemic (that is intentional) now! According to the STRIB: "The Twins offered 2016 contracts to each of their six arbitration-eligible players by Wednesday’s 11 p.m. deadline. Eduardo Escobar, Trevor Plouffe, Eduardo Nunez, Kevin Jepsen, Tommy Milone and Casey Fien could have become free agents if the Twins had chosen not to tender contracts by the deadline". All of us lame people can go to sleep, now.

  9. Lame is a BAD thing? Who knew?
  10. I doubt it. Ryan may want to come home next Wednesday night, instead of Thursday, and skip the Rule 5 draft.
  11. That's true. Everyone needs plan of escape from their plan.
  12. Mike, you took the words right off my keyboard. Ryan DOES NOT LIE! His reputation for honesty is more important to him than winning baseball games. (and can be detrimental) I have never heard any description of TR by peers, co-workers or employees that says differently. He is one of the most trusted people in public life that I have ever seen. If nominated, he might run and get shutout in an election. He has no chance in politics. Honesty kills!
  13. I thought that the Twins hitting philosophy was "Only use it as a last resort!".
  14. If everyone else runs out to their positions quickly, and only leftfield is vacant, maybe Joe will get a hint.
  15. Or we can just settle for mediocrity, which was discussed in an earlier thread....KIDDING!!!!
  16. I am going to say this just once and then never again: Let's all hope that Byung-Ho will be Gung-ho! I think I just hurt myself.....
  17. If Bert bleeps up, I hope he can say "sun jun Taekwondo" ("I know Taekwondo") before Park says it to him.
  18. I think the current pause before acquiring bullpen additions will end after the Winter Meetings/Rule5 draft. Those additions are likely NOT going to be trades and adding to the roster is better done after Rule 5 protection isn't necessary for the current roster players
  19. Do you mean GREAT as in HUGE? or in WISE?
  20. I think you should have talked your foster-son into staying with football.
  21. Centeno is the most likely of the three to reach MLB earliest and help the Twins the most. He is a SOLID defensive catcher, who was the 28th best prospect (BA) for the Mets in 2014. This is his BA scouting report from the BA Prospect Handbook 2014. "When the Mets needed a third catcher for their expanded September roster, they turned to Centeno, the system's best defender at the position who gunned down 56 percent of basestealers in 2013. He became the answer to a trivia question when on Sept. 25 he became the first (and so far only) big league catcher to throw out Reds speedster Billy Hamilton. On the Hamilton caught stealing, Centeno turned in a pop time between 1.7 to 1.8 seconds, which is well-above-average. Pitchers like throwing to him because he's an agile receiver with good hands and a strong, accurate arm. Because he has a contact-oriented lefty bat, he could be a backup in the big leagues for a long time, though he generates practically no power from his lean, 5-foot-9 frame. Centeno has thrown out 42 percent of basestealers in the minors and could one day be a nice backup complement to Travis d'Arnaud"
  22. Young arms and power arms are often prone to walking batters, until they become older arms.
  23. The bullpen can be improved by discarding the BAD RP's, rather than discarding ALL the RP's.
  24. I have seen more ridiculous, but totally serious, suggestions made here, so I didn't laugh until just now.
