The Minnesota Twins swept the White Sox, extending Chicago's losing streak to 20 games. Ouch. Down on the farm, a few members of the 2024 draft class have joined the Mighty Mussels. Also, both Louie Varland and Justin Topa appear to be nearing a return to the majors after they've both been throwing the ball well for the Saints. The Minnesota Twins had a quiet trade deadline. Not only were they the last team to complete a deal, the only player they acquired was middle relief bullpen arm Trevor Richards. Tonight's System Recap opens with my reactions to the trade deadline followed by the usual highlights and coverage of the system. The Minnesota Twins scored seven runs on the day Joe Mauer was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but it wasn't enough. It was another competitive but tough loss at the hands of the Brewers in which the Twins couldn't find an extra hit with runners in scoring position. From down on the farm, there are highlights of Zebby Matthews' Triple-A debut, Cory Lewis' strong outing for Wichita, Rubel Cespedes' two-homer game for Cedar Rapids and Walker Jenkins sparking a go-ahead rally for Fort Myers.

It's also realistic to expect Derek Falvey and the front office won't be free to add a significant amount of payroll, especially given the Twins aren't drawing like they'd hoped. With the 2024 MLB Draft coming to a close, I take a look at the new class of Minnesota Twins prospects and offer my thoughts. I also did a knee-jerk reaction update to my most recent Twins prospect list to include these new players. While there are things I would have done differently, the quartet of Kaelen Culpepper, Kyle DeBarge, Billy Amick and Dasan Hill built a strong foundation and I can see reasons why the Twins feel they can develop those players.
