  1. I just don't see any reason why Kohl Stewart doesn't join the Kernels opening day. But I guess its not too big of a deal if he spends a month or so in EST. Anyway, nowadays I almost look forward to the minor leagues season to start as much as the major league season.
  2. This is news to me as well. Maybe Seth can get us some info on this. Edit: Just read Seth's latest intrasquad report, he briefly mentions Rodriquez
  3. #2 is the most realistic and sensible option. #4 if you graduated from the Jeffrey Loria school of sports franchise ownership.
  4. Look at all of these butt kissers;)
  5. I'll take over. I think he goes down exactly one week before opening day.
  6. Looks like I joined on the public launch date. I feel special now:o Though not as special as you moderators who joined a couple months prior.
  7. One of the big talking points here at the time was concern about the competition Buxton was facing. Buxton clearly had the most upside, but the risk factor for a lot of people including myself put him on a fairly even scale with guys like Appel and Guasman. So the fact that the Twins needed pitching was the tiebreaker. I wanted Appel when Houston passed on him. Wasn't surprised when the Twins selected Buxton but was admittedly disappointed.
  8. I definitely agree. But its not the GCL numbers or the Aussie numbers that have raised my interest, recent scouting reports have shown increased velocity since he signed and his overall stuff sounds pretty good. I agree with the notion that we should temper our expectations for the kid, but I'm definitely intrigued.
  9. May has given up just under a hit per inning the last couple years, add the walks and that makes for a pretty bad WHIP (as well as high pitch counts). Does he strike out enough to make up for that? May has some upside but I don't think he'll be able to succeed as a starter. Prove me wrong Trevor!
  10. I counted 7 for the Astros.
  11. I'm sure many here will share the same sentiment as me that Meyer was a little lower than expected.
  12. Top 100 out today. 1-50 and 51-100 Buxton-1 Sano-8 Rosario-49 Meyer-62 Stewart-76
  13. What exactly makes you say this?
  14. ESPN has just released Keith Law's Farm System Rankings. You have to be an insider to read the whole thing but I will share that the Twins are ranked 2nd behind the Astros. One quick quote... Tomorrow they will come out with Klaw's top 100 which I will share here. Then Thursday the top 10 list for each AL team. Looking forward to both.
  15. Do all the Puerto Winter League games draw that many people? Pretty impressive!
  16. Looking forward to the next few days. ESPN will be releasing Keith Law's org rankings tomorrow. Wednesday is the top 100. Then Thursday will be each team's top 10. Klaw is my favorite as far as prospects (both pro and amateur) writers go.
  17. That isn't even a question anymore. Only thing that will force a switch is if he has more arm problems, or he gets too big.
  18. I'd say the dome had a lot to do with it. Not sure about the cost part, but having a controlled environment with good lighting probably made it a very appealing place to shoot a baseball movie.
  19. I sometimes read those for kicks. I was surprised there was only 3 or 4 comments predicting the Twins would turn Sano into a slap singles hitter
  20. Pretty much how I feel too. Sano could hit 45 bombs in a season some day but his rookie year is pretty far fetched.
  21. Crawford responded to my tweet saying that the ETA on Santana was a typo. It has been changed to 2015. I also noticed a couple other changes. He changed Sano from late 2015 to just 2015. I still think he comes up this year unless the elbow needs surgery. He also changed Polanco from 2017 to late 2016. Still too conservative IMO. Polanco seems to me like a player with not a high ceiling but seems pretty well polished with the bat. A player like that should not take THAT long but we'll see.
  22. Did you guys see his ETA on Santana? My take is, if you don't expect a AA player to make ML contributions within 3 years, you can't call him a prospect. Yeah, I know the Twins have a reputation for being slow promoters, but this guy is too conservative on his ETA's.
  23. Good for you guys not throwing it back. I always thought that was kinda dumb. Especially the time I was at a game against the White Sox and Jim Thome hit a HR not far from where I was sitting. The man who got the ball gave into the pressure and threw it back. Someday he'll tell the story about how he caught a HR ball of HOF'er Jim Thome, and when they ask what happened to the ball he'll have to say, "I threw it back".
  24. April 14, 2005 was quite a lucky day for me. I had never gotten a ball prior to that day. I brought my glove to the game because my tickets were in left field and we got there when the gates opened. I caught 3 batting practice balls hit by Detroit. None of which I had to move a foot in either direction to catch. Then during the game, Lew Ford hit a 3 run homer right at me. Like batting practice, all I had to do was stand up a stick my glove out. The ball has not hit the ground since it left Kyle Farnsworth's hand. That night, FSN replayed the game and I recorded it. The tape is in a box somewhere I'm sure. One of these days I'll have to pull it out and show it to my boy(if my VCR still works).
  25. I Might buy a few and put them in my tv room. I'll be sure to face the seats about 45 degrees to the left of the tv so it'll be just like old times.
