  1. I would also rather have Marcum but if it was an option of one or the other I don't think you could kill them for taking Saunders (also not assuming equal contracts of course).
  2. At least with Saunders you get the benefit of the doubt wih durability on his side. Marcum still has the whole injury concern thing going for him.
  3. Hopefully their reported pursuit of Saunders shows they aren't naive enough this time around to stand pat when having so much injury concern and ineptitude to rely on..
  4. Evidence huh? Interesting.
  5. Nope. I was mobile and it was easier to quote you then to go back a page to quote the first half of that.
  6. I said it. Joe Saunders » Statistics » Pitching | FanGraphs Baseball
  7. To put a positive spin on it - he was a 2.5 WAR player last year.
  8. They also reported after each free agent signing that the Twins never made a formal offer on, well, any of them. Not even a low ball offer. We have been down this road before. We know what it means when the Twins are "kicking tires" on someone.
  9. Not to beat a dead horse (im sorry) but just because Correia is a lock for the rotation at the beginning of the year doesnt mean he won't be bumped for better options. He probably won't because of his contract but you never know.
  10. ha! The thick skin helps deal with real world criticisms a bit better at least. so there's that eh?
  11. I think it has more to do with trying to rebound the overwhelmingly negative tone around the forum in general.
  12. Remember that one time that Target Field was built with only private funds and no money from the public?
  13. Good thing you only need thick skin for critcism if you play in New York or Boston. Errrr, wait, what? While I agree that being mean spirited is a bit much, these are professional athletes. Every professional sports teams' fans are going to criticize their players, moreso when their team is in the toilet. Again, I'm not condoning such negative and abusive messages, but you are making it sound like the Twins are the only team in professional sports that this happens with.
  14. Agree. I think the root of it is the fact that people don't want him to do well so it doesnt reinforce the idea to the FO that he is the type of pitcher they should be signing, putting money into, etc. If he tanks hardcore, maybe the FO will get the idea a little faster they need to look at pitchers with different 'styles' instead of patting themselves on the back and signing more pitchers in the Blackburn/Correia type mold.
  15. I'm mobile so its hard to look it up, let alone post, but I suspect you would be better served using a previous three year average.
  16. It's probably because of that high rate of depression up there.
  17. I couldnt help but lol at that one. haha.
  18. Look. Every thread is becoming the same pissing match. Maybe you can use your Jedi mind powers and PM me which ones are free of all this griping so I don't have to sift through it myself.
  19. Yawn. Can we just open a new thread dedicated at your guys' battle royale?
  20. Why would anybody give up a player of value for him when they could just claim him when he ultimately gets DFA'ed? We can't trade him to ourselves. He has a career K/9 below 5.5. A career ERA of 5.03. ERA+ of 82. Only thing in his favor is that he is young and cheap. I'll admit that I would expect his stats to improve this year as he gets a little older, but I don't see him having any trade value.
  21. I hope those of you going to any of the Caravan stops have plenty of questions on hand! You can report back to us with answers given!
  22. I for one am just glad that our rotation is now fortified.
