  1. 3 strikeouts on pitches out of the zone
  2. He must be throwing some filthy stuff with all these swings and near swings out of the zone
  3. I said several during his at bat
  4. Dude has throw about 3 actual strikes and is on the verge of K’ing the side. In fact should have, as Santana swung
  5. lol you’ll rarely see two worse consecutive at bats than those two there
  6. That’s an at bat ol’ Matt would like to forget I’m sure
  7. Let’s hope. His new ultra positive schtick is as hilarious as it is annoying
  8. me waiting for second half Kepler to arrive
  9. Which is odd considering the numbers. He had 7 blown saves in 11 chances last year as well. I totally understand that it’s tough to tie a guy up to certain inning usage only. However, I don’t believe every pitcher can close games. And I never will believe that. Some guys are better at it than others.
  10. I guess that depends upon if you believe anyone can close games. For instance, Jax has 4 blown saves in 12 chances this season. Duran has 1 in 17 chances. Someone has already opined that Jax is the new closer
  11. Even the cities? Doesn’t bode well
  12. No I don’t like this new bit, Peter. Get back to talking about how big Texas is or something
  13. I believe players perform better when they know their role, especially relievers. Duran, the closer, doesn’t pitch in 5 days and he’s put in to a game in the 7th inning when we’re behind. It’s odd and totally fair to ask why when other guys (alcala for instance) pitch in the 6-7th inning time frame. Then the idea that a 2-3 run deficit is a time to throw arguably your shakiest reliever to save the rest of the arms is kind of wild to me. Its mid august. It didn’t end up costing any more runs but it nearly did. I think the time for punting on games is running out when we’re not many games behind/ahead. The tying run was up twice with two home run threats (Santana and Miranda) at bat.
  14. This is very true. Considering his history with the bases loaded, a walk was the last thing that was probably going to happen
  15. The chance was there with Santana and Miranda up. I’m not sure why you think it was some impossibility that we could have tied it up there.
  16. Oh well, still have only scored 1 run anyway
  17. People think pitchers are going to forget how to pitch if they don’t throw in games every other day. It’s mid august. Maybe Duran could have used a break since everyone talks about his decreasing velocity
  18. So why use your closer down two runs in the 7th? He’s not going to forget how to pitch because he’s had a couple days off.
  19. Oh look the tying run is up. Not really insurmountable eh?
  20. Sands? Jax? Alcala? None pitched yesterday.
  21. 3 runs down in the 8th inning is hardly no chance to win. Not saying it’s going to happen but sheesh, can’t consider yourself a playoff team if that’s some insurmountable, wave the white flag, situation
  22. Incredible how this dude has a 1.20 WHIP this year lol
  23. What are we doing with this guy in the game in this spot
