  1. The giants play calling is absolutely horrendous
  2. 99 yard drive. I would have taken 3 points. Well done
  3. Wow. Ballsy call
  4. People complained so hard about Kirk’s salary, but Daniel jones got 4 years $160 MILLION. For what
  5. Gift PI leads to the touchdown. Good to see the refs are still terrible
  6. Penalties turnovers.
  7. Defense looks decent
  8. I would really hope decisions weren’t made due to what happened a year ago in one game
  9. It’s not just that the game has changed so much, it’s that it’s changed so much so quickly. It really was not that long ago that removing a guy performing as well as Ober did last night was unthinkable. How many years since this became a thing? 10? 15? A lot baseball fans over the age of say 35 can’t comprehend this sort of mindset and don’t like it. But this is how pitchers are handled now from an early age, so I’m not sure what will change it. Maybe if MLB implements the 6 inning minimum for starters? But SPs throughout the entire system will have to adjust. What was the thing I heard with Festa, he hadn’t pitched past the 5th inning in the minors? That’s insanity, unless I just completely made it up 😂
  10. Anyone who’s ever pitched, especially in relief, will tell you that the 9th inning is different. “The last 3 outs are the hardest to get” is said over and over again. It’s the pressure of knowing that if you blow it, especially on the road, the game is over and you lose. It’s a mentality that some guys have and thrive with and some don’t. Maybe Duran struggles outside of that situation because he doesn’t have that adrenaline going. And that’s not rocco’s fault, to be fair, but he needs to recognize the pattern that we all see. It’s laughable to suggest that any pitcher can be a successful 9th inning guy. Look at Jax in particular. He’s had an outstanding season and you can make an argument that he’s overall the best reliever we have. But his numbers closing games are not good over the last two years. He’s had more blown saves than duran with far fewer chances. He even technically got one last night though it wasn’t his fault. I just don’t understand why you would mess with guys who have shown they are better in certain situations. It’s like using a speedy running back on 3rd and short instead of your big bruiser. It’s overthinking a simple situation.
  11. It is odd, for a team that relies on analytics, to continue to ignore a very simple stat line when they mess with where to pitch Duran
  12. To be far, two years ago, 2/5 of the rotation weren’t capable of getting past the 4th
  13. Duran has been dragged though the mud a lot on here because he’s throwing 102 and not 104 but he’s 22/24 in save ops and we remember how the defense failed him in his blown save a couple weeks ago. There are a lot of teams who would like to have him close games. The Yankees are one of em
  14. Boston is 4 back with 3 games in Fenway with the twins September 20-22. This thing is not remotely over.
  15. I count 4 candidates for loss of the year in the last 3 weeks. The numbers do not bear out using Jax as the closer and Duran as set up. Each has excelled in their usual role and struggled how they were used tonight. I don’t understand swapping them. But regardless, I’ll take the guy who set down 15 in a row with 84 pitches. It’s madness to argue he should have been removed from the game.
  16. It’s alright guys we have the Vikings tomorrow!
  17. Boston Detroit and Seattle all now 4.5 back. Boston will be 4 back in 3 outs. Odds are one will get hot.
  18. I would really hope decisions weren’t made based on an at bat from last year. And I’m sure if Duran is the competitor he seems to be, he would want a crack at him to atone, get some revenge. That usually how the pros think, guys with silly bow ties might think differently
  19. Jax gets a blown save for this game. Coincidentally
  20. Duran hasn’t been struggling. It’s just people who are obsessed with MPH on a gun that think he’s been terrible (not saying you). He had one blown save recently. He’s 22/24 in save ops. Jax has had more blown saves in fewer chances going back to last season. So the manager decided that both guys should be put in to roles that they have performed poorly in. Make it make sense. Anyone.
  21. Then Jax should be the man to close games going forward. Even though statistically he’s been much worse at it than Duran.
  22. I’m struggling with the reasoning for putting Duran in over Jax. Duran is still the closer as far as I know. Why would you leapfrog your setup man to have your closer face the bottom of the order? Relievers have always done better when they have defined roles. If Jax is better for the top of the order then he should get the 9th going forward
  23. How many did ober retire in a row? 15? and people are defending lol
  24. Did Duran put himself in the game?
  25. None of this is defensible, But I’m sure some posters will try.
