  1. No, I said it was a dumb move. And it still is. And always will be. And I have no problems with anything Rocco did tonight. see how easy this is
  2. Yes, it’s been said many times that the best managers always manage like their best pitcher will allow the first 4 baserunners to reach in any inning.
  3. wtf is Torii talking about
  4. Rocco clearly should have pulled Ober before this inning 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
  5. lol what was Justin doing there, with the mic check
  6. Ha! Broken up by Gunnar Henderson
  7. Tigers 3 outs away from a combined no hitter. They may be the favorite to sneak past us.
  8. He struggled around the middle or later of last season IIRC. To the point where he was a genuine concern. But then he showed up in a big way in the postseason. He was nearly perfect. If he can do that again, I’ll live with “only” a 92% save percentage 😂
  9. Holmes is 29 for 41 in save opportunities. That’s 70%. Duran is at 92%. Most of the top ten closers in the game right now have 2-4 blown saves this season. Kirby Yates looks to be the best at 30 of 31. Top ten leaders in total saves/opps Helsley 44/48 Clase 44/47 Finnegan 36/41 suarez 32/36 Iglesias 31/34 Yates 30/31 Hader 29/31 Holmes 29/41 Diaz 27/31 Jansen 26/30 Duran is doing just fine in his role. It stinks that he can’t perform well in other spots, but the twins don’t have anyone else who has shown they can be great at closing. Jax, for as good as he is, has 12 blown saves in the last two seasons
  10. Clase is 44 for 47 on save opportunities (93%). Duran is 23 for 25 (92%). Surprised he’s getting criticized as being “off”
  11. How many were manfred losses? For some reason, he’s not good in non-save situations, but his manager key likes throwing him into those situations. And I can think of two losses in the last month off the top of my head that were directly because of the defense.
  12. Oh sure it’s fine when Crash Davis does it, but now it’s a problem
  13. Spot to talk about the week 2 goings on. Tua just took another hit on the head (clean, he didn’t slide). Arms went stiff again. Is his career finished? Sad story
  14. There is absolutely something wrong organizationally. Guys clearly lack the fundamentals of the game when they come up. But that may be something that is happening across the game starting when players are young. I think the explosion of travel ball and the obsession with numbers may have something to do with that too. Hey you threw it to the wrong base but at least your throw velo was outstanding
  15. As with most things, managers should fall somewhere in the middle between raging, drunk, yelling guy and “you can take BP or not. If you want. Maybe”. I don’t think laissez faire managing works in anything. Business world, parenting, teaching, and certainly the coaching world. And nowadays, guys are absolutely not going to respond to a Mike Zimmer type either. Coaches at the youth and high school level (even college) are not allowed to be “old school”, so I doubt if they’d be ok with it at the professional level. Coaches were largely insane “back in my day”, and now we’ve tried to remedy that by going too far the other way, where any criticism is unwarranted. My opinion, you don’t need to be a hard*** to your team nor do you need to be their buddy. Personally I think the whole organization is a little too laid back in some of their approaches and I think it fosters an environment where toughness is lacking. Also I don’t think t’s a coincidence that the twins are generally terrible at fundamentals either
  16. We’ll see how for real the team is next week going against SF
  17. Boston Detroit and Seattle will all be THREE games back after tonight 😳
  18. Shows how hard it is to do, that that team hasn’t been no hit
  19. White Sox avoid the perfect game.
  20. “That’s the difference in the majors and the minors!”
