Mauer's OPS: .720 Hunter's OPS: .736 We seem to be comparing apples that are no longer as fresh and shiny as they once were. Given that they're both here to stay for the year, cut off the rotted parts and eat. (Metaphors only go far ...)
Does anyone else think it is "stupid" to pinch run for Sano, a) when he has good speed, and , the team is down by a run, thus the chance of extra innings is very possible ... then we would be without Sano. Yet it happens every time.
Far too early to say. But I liked Polanco's range on the ground ball deep in the hole. His throw, which went for an error, was actually a one-hopper that Mauer should have caught. My thought: if Polanco's errors (which were numerous in the minors) look like that we can live with it. (I suppose they don't all look like that though).
To win today, The Blue Jays traded away 12 players from their major and minor league systems. I wonder if it was worth it? I'd like to see the Twins beat them down the stretch, and then watch them slowly try to rebuild once again.
Max Kepler, 22.5 years old, has really put it together this year at AA. .330/.412/.516/.929 I agree with Seth that he's untouchable. I hope to see him in a Twins uniform soon. Start the evaluation at the MLB level next year, I suspect.
