  1. Yes, I hope it's a slump. Of course.
  2. Since July 1 Hunter is hitting .158. Even he must see the writing on the wall. Yes, he could play out the season, and yes, he could play next year. I don't doubt those things are more likely to happen than my bold prediction. But you laugh now ... In a week, if my predication hasn't come true I'll eat my shoe. I will. (Virtually, that is.)
  3. I predict next week Torii Hunter will walk into the manager's office and offer up his right field job to Aaron Hicks for the remainder of the year, thus freeing up Paul Molitor/Terry Ryan to call up Byron Buxton to play center field for the rest of the year. My thinking: It has dawned on Torii Hunter (an intelligent mentor who has been playing pretty dreadfully lately) that his presence in right field is holding back Buxton who, at the very least, seems ready to try to emulate his good friend Miguel Sano at the Major League level. If it doesn't happen, I'm wrong.
  4. And the slowest - where I'm from.
  5. I don't know about that, but I can see him smiling and laughing when he put the mask on and went down into the crouch, saying "okay, this is fun, throw the ball, I got it."
  6. Hmmm. Just saw that today is International Left-Handers Day. Duensing has to know this, and therefore he knows that he representing all those who were turned into righties by nuns and he KNOWS he has to pitch great today. Ah, he's out of the game. Forget it.
  7. He is fundamentally Pull Happy. I wonder if anything can be done about it? Forever Pull Happy probably. Or Molitor gets in his head next year.
  8. If you're old enough to have seen Killebrew play When Sano comes up to the plate the same edge of your seat anticipation Comes along every 50 years? Enjoy it, enjoy now before he signs that 10 year contract with Planet New York, California, or Texas
  9. I don't dislike Dozier by any means, but he will make a good beer-bellied slowpitch softball player one day, judging by the way he pulls ... every ... single ... ball ... pitched ... to ... him.
  10. And thank you to the woman in Costa Rica who stitched the ball together!
  11. Glynn doesn't seem to grade out very well as a third base coach. (I don't know this for a fact, but it appears that he SUCKS.)
  12. The catcher was illegally blocking the path to the plate, so if Robinson had run straight to the plate he would have collided with the catcher and he would have been ruled safe. Why, this year, no controversy? While last year, so much controversy? Boring.
  13. We finally got the substitute math teacher to leave the classroom. Yeah.
  14. We need a Santana Clause: He gets $100,000 for each good inning pitched, and he gets $100,000 taken away for each bad inning pitched.
  15. And I don't think the Player's Association would approve of such a precedent.
  16. 1) Bat him 7th or 8th in the order. 2) Play him part-time against select pitchers he is likely to do well against. As a result, his performance will improve, but in a limited way. WIN-WIN FOR EVERYONE!
  17. A Polish Gamble in my dictionary is a team below .500 in August that still believes it can win the World Series.
  18. Although I kind of like him batting third so he bats in the first inning every time. But you're right, by batting him fourth it increases the probability of the guy batting third (Dozier next year?) getting something sweet to hit.
  19. Everybody aboard the bandwagon. No charge. Get your tickets while they last. Going fast. Will be a round-trip ticket, everybody home by October 1st.
  20. I see that Hicks' BABIP (before the home run) was .314. I wonder ... and now all you smarty pants can inform me ... what is a "good" BABIP supposed to be? In other words, how high above the batting average would be considered a good BABIP? I imagine this hasn't been established, but what are some theories? For example, Dozier's BABIP is .269 (24 points above his BA). Mauer's BABIP is +41. Note: In Mauer's MVP year his BABIP was .373 and his batting average was .365. (so close together). I guess I'm just having a conversation with myself here! But it occurs to me that perhaps the closer one's BABIP is to BA the more accurate your batting average is?
  21. I went for a walk when it was tied. Came back, it was over.
  22. I guess the manager doesn't have enough decisions to make so when there's a bad one to be made he gets all excited and makes it.
