  1. I can't watch anymore. http://i.imgur.com/fEbiZ9w.gif
  2. February 19th, 2007? Your dog is an impressive prognosticator.
  3. Thank you Hicks dear. It makes the loss a little easier to bear.
  4. Riverbrian, you once said that "the 2000th post must contain be a paragraph with references of Herbert Hoover... A blender and kidney stones." I accidentally hit 2,000 without realizing it. How about the 2,002nd?
  5. Duffey owned the team today. When was slavery re-legalized again?
  6. There's going to be some tension in the dugout after that Plouffe rebellion. I don't think Molitor appreciates having his authority questioned.
  7. At first I almost fell for the impersonation, but then I realized my mistake. Not old enough.
  8. In the last month, Van Steensel has made 9 more appearances, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits over 11.1 innings, striking out 14, and walking 5. He also earned his 13th save of the season in a 1-0 win over the Bradenton Marauders on August 20th. In other news, Todd has continued to entertain his Twitter followers with tweets of varying sorts. This just in from yesterday: "I just shaved for the last time in five months. Hopefully. Maybe. Beards are a lot of work." And, while this may have been known to others, I'm not a huge Twitter person and just discovered today that the young man is a 49ers fan. Tsk tsk Todd ... you could do better than that.
  9. D.J. Baxendale has started 4 games since my last update, pitching 22 innings and allowing 8 runs on 26 hits while striking out 13 and walking 9.
  10. Since my last update, Tyler Jay has pitched 7 more innings in as many appearances, allowing only 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 8, and walking 1. Since ERA was such a huge concern for some when he first started pitching for the Miracle, his ERA now stands at 4.15 over 17.1 innings pitched.
  11. This is our dog Lady. She was the best dog ever. My mom would send us kids outside to play and tell Lady to watch us, and she would. If we left our yard, she tried to herd us back in, and if we didn't obey she barked until someone looked out the window and saw what we were up to. She barked at the shady looking teenage kids who hid behind the bushes and stared into our yard. She began to get old about the same time I was beginning to put on the speed myself, so we would play together a lot. When I went inside, she would go wait by the door for me to come back outside and play with her again. I took that picture a month before she passed away. It was one of the first times I was ever allowed to use a camera, and there is no picture I've ever taken that is more precious to me. She was just shy of 15, and her health was deteriorating rapidly. My parents made the decision to have her put to sleep. I was broken ... I couldn't sleep and I don't know if anyone else could either. I was 11 at the time. Life wasn't easy anyway, and losing my best friend didn't make it any easier. I hated my parents, but that was unfair since I'm sure the decision was killing them, too. They truly believed that it was the right thing at the time. Now we're all haunted by the guilt that maybe the decision was too hasty, maybe we could have helped her longer. The day Lady died I was hysterical. That night there was a huge thunderstorm and lightening struck something in the catholic church that is kitty corner to the back of our house. I don't know what happened exactly, but it somehow messed up the power and set the bells ringing. Some churches ring the bells for funerals for a few minutes. That night the bells rang for 45 minutes. They were never fixed. They no longer ring for each church service, nor at 6 in the morning and 6 in the night. But they rang for Lady. Call it karma or whatever you want, but it helped a little in a strange sort of way. I will never forget that night. Lady was the best dog I could ever ask for. She will never be replaced.
  12. I like to kiss my dog. That does not look kissable.
  13. Wouldn't you rather that Dog the Bounty Hunter found him?
  14. I call baloney on the rule itself. But since it's established, I also call baloney on the ruling. Therefore I'm not OK with the result.
  15. And this is my brother's German Shepherd, Meadow. She's Willow's niece. I could have done a better job training her than my bro did. She's earned herself the nickname of "Shark" because she's such a brat. We also call her Emmy because my younger brothers used to run around calling the dogs "C., M., etc. (last name)" as in "E. Gattis grounds into a double play." If they were the first to be pet that day, they singled. Next, doubled. And so on down the line. So for a while Meadow was Em, but we endeared it to Emmy. Occasionally I call Clover Cece, but the rest of my family thinks it sounds too much like C.C. Sabathia. Emmy's other nickname is Shik, a sort of play off of Shark that is supposed to sound a bit more offensive.
  16. Now this is another sister's Miniature Schnauzer. Back before we got him, she and I were fiercely campaigning to see who deserved the honors of getting a dog. As it turned out, she won because she was eight years my senior and therefore more responsible. She picked Shadow because she wanted his cute and cuddliness, but she wasn't committed to training him how to be cute and cuddly. I took it upon myself to train him for her. Guess who was more responsible! She got off easy that time ... http://images4.ravelry.com/uploads/ThirdGrace97/243834505/DSCF2782.jpg P.S. I even trained him how to be cute ... my sister had some sort of Little Lord Fauntleroy dilemma about his hair, but he was so hideous before I started giving him haircuts. After I got Clover she stepped in and did it herself. It was hard convincing her that he was cuter with short hair, though.
  17. Riverbrian has turned this into National Twins Daily Dog Day. I'm going to post pictures of our other dogs ... I try not to inundate you guys with posts like I used to, but in this instance I'm going to post the pictures separately because I'm curious to see who likes what kind of dog. My sister's German Shepherd, Willow ... the self-proclaimed queen and protector of the family, afraid of nothing.* *Popping hardwood floors are nothing.
  18. It used to only Sano in winter ... now it Sanos in summer too, and Houston is not immune!
  19. Blame ChiTown, not Riverbrian. I'm sure she's the one who said "yay". Tsk, tsk ... 3 1/2 years in the system and you still can't tell your moderators apart.
  20. <Points proudly> That's Clover!!
