  1. Let me make this clear by looking at two possible scenarios for 2016. Scenario 1) Joe Mauer has a "lazy" workout routine yet hits .300; you continue to rant because if he so much as lifted weights he'd be smashing balls out of the park at a rate of at least 20% more. Scenario 2) Joe Mauer works out the "right" way, is less productive; you grow a beard to express solidarity and approval.
  2. Oh, I am by no means opposed to ... well, a lot of prescribed drugs. It just bothers me that some people use the system for no other means than to get rich. And I would never say to do away with the system in its entirety. I was basically trying to point out the irony there is in having illegal recreational drugs when you pause and consider some of the legal pharmaceutical drugs out there.
  3. Ahem ... I've been through this with my family before. Must I go through it with you as well? On a slightly different note, this discussion has reminded me of this video I saw a while ago. Hopefully I get the right link in there and not The Corries singing "The Vicar and the Frog." Lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCUbvOwwfWM
  4. Speaking of which, if we're going to keep marijuana illegal, why not crack down on the pharmaceutical drugs that are far, far worse? Nvm ... crack down on some of those even when we do legalize marijuana. The medical world gets away with armed robbery and mass homicide ... armed with addicting drugs whose only cure is more addicting drugs until someone's on such and such for energy during the day which leads to this because they couldn't sleep at night and then that because they began having mood swings and ... and .... Oh and wait a minute ... what happened to my comfortable savings? And that's a mild example because my mind's drawing a blank, but if you get any deeper it's pretty horrific. And the reasons for some of this prescribed medication ... and what it does to you .... Am I just an idiot? Or does anyone else consider this a valid concern?
  5. Pretty soon it'll be Dickbert: "I never did say half the things I said."
  6. Speaking of the future .... This is the first age that's ever paid much attention to the future, which is a little ironic since we may not have one. ~ Arthur Clarke
  7. The Rally Monkey was inducted to the HOF years ago and was therefore made ineligible for these polls.
  8. Don't worry about it, Danchat! You can always delete your vote, and it doesn't make you ineligible; that single vote just doesn't count. Riverbrian voted for himself, and he's gonna make it. Period. If at the end of the game he still doesn't have enough votes, I'm going to add him to my ballot just to get him out of the picture for next year. Lol.
  9. No North? We'll have to content ourselves with this: http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/4005622/father-of-the-bride-2-o.gif
  10. Kind of like the fans in the stands?
  11. Yes, but is it a name for an old, old, old person's band?
  12. I knew what you were getting at. And I'm not.
  13. Why'd you say that? You tempted me to do just that. Anyway ... nothing but bad jokes. Such as the one about Psalm 129 in which you were supposed to be well informed in your job or you might miss a great opportunity. I happen to know that Psalm 129 says no such thing. :')
  14. My gosh, Chief. Are you pulling my leg, or is it possible that you didn't think that any of these questions WEREN'T setups?
  15. Earlier today I was watching the squirrels in our yard. I looked out the window and there were at least 5 that I could see, but pretty quickly that number dwindled to 1. The problem was this young upstart dude who was seeking sexual gratification like all adolescent male squirrels are apt to do at this time of year; he kept harassing the lady squirrels until one by one they took their cases to the authorities. What I don't understand is that none of these ladies turned around and gave the little twerp The Eye. I've often wondered that. When a squirrel is being chased by another squirrel, if only it would think to whirl around all of a sudden ... things might get interesting. But they never do.
  16. I've been told to use my head just once in my life (yeah, that was you, Chi). It's no compliment. Everyone who's met me can clearly see that I have none.
  17. Yeah. You have me convinced.
  18. Who are you? George Banks?
  19. I see that I remain at the disgraceful number of 1. Is self-campaigning allowed on this forum?
  20. Not so. Edit: Here are some statistics: Gold: 3,098 (always33) Happily Ever After Silver: 2,282 (ashburyjohn) The Gardy Boys Bronze: 2,097 (always33) Take Me Out to the Ballgame Not bad, Always! <pats back in self-approval>
  21. When I do my last series this year, I think I'm going to have to make a list twice as long then with people who I think would do an awesome job on a game thread.
  22. I had to like this since I like (love!) your vote. It's not that this specific post stands out so much, but I would like it 10,000 times if I could just because of who you voted for. :')
  23. When asked if the fans that dashed naked as jaybirds across the field were men or women, "I don't know. They had bags over their heads."
