  1. I believe one you are called up and sent back down you can not return to the major league club for 14 days. Thus crushing the possibility of this. You get an injury or a stretch that you play 10 in a row and suddenly you are out of capable players. I really wanna see Herrmann as the backup catcher. What does Pinto do for you early in the season? He is only going to play 1 game a week and isn't likely to DH in the fact that Vargas looked so good. Now if Pinto is going to play 3 or more days a week behind the plate or if Suzuki gets injured I want to see Pinto but I don't like a high ceiling guy who needs work sit on the bench at the major league level. Would rather see a versitial guy who seemingly has worked his but off get a chance to play at the major league level.
  2. Would have loved to see a pinto Herrmann combo behind the plate this yr but after the 1st half that Suzuki had and they couldn't get much if anything in return for him at the deadline they had to resign him and they got a decent price maybe they caught lightning in a bottle but I don't think so. No cents carrying Suzuki pinto and Herrmann. But if you think pinto is going to be anything better then a DH or backup catcher he needs to get better defensively and you don't get better sitting on the bench playing once a week. Bring Herrmann north let him catch one day a week. Let him come in in the 8 the and 9th inning as a defensive replacement for Arcia or Hunter.
  3. Opinions on Herrmann? Watched him the last few years and his swing looks solid but hasn't put together any good numbers. To me his defense behind the plate passes the eye test, and his COF defense is pretty solid as well. He commands the game well as a catcher and a versitial LH hitting catcher is always nice piece. Does this guy have a chance to win the back up catching spot? Do the twins still view him as a catcher? Is he organizational depth as a utility player at Rochester with a guy like fryer behind the plate in Rochester? I've like Herrmann as a catcher since he has come up with the ability to play other positions but he does nothing for me as a COF and emergency catcher. I'd like to see him come north with the twins as the back up catcher and have Pinto continue to work defensively in Rochester. Thoughts? Anyone see this or Em I way off in LF on this guy.
  4. The more I read the more I watch pinto the less I think he can be a big league catcher. Doesn't hit well unless given consistent ABs, doesn't throw out runners, doesn't call a good game and doesn't frame well. Anyone else like watching Hermann behind the plate? His swing looks solid but hasn't put anything together at the big league lvl. Perfect backup catcher. Hits left handed and can play multiple other positions. Thoughts?
  5. I think you call the rays or Oakland rangers Astros and you see if you can get a pitcher with some high end upside. Vargas looks to me like the dh of the future. You run with a hodge pudge of outfielders to begin the season and as soon as Rosario and buxton are ready you put them in the outfield. If I'm the twin I role with hicks and Schafer and I take delino deshields in the rule 5 and those 3 split time in CF and LF and we wait for the prospects and if your lucky one of the 3 sticks.
  6. He isn't going to develop into a all star but he may find a notch. If he is a willy tevaras or Joey gathright those were serviceable 4 outfielders for a while
  7. I'd like to see buehrle or masterson or Lester. The other guy as fa or avalaible don't tickle my fancy. Lester is a pipe dream and the only way I see us getting masterson is to risk it and give him likely more then he is worth hoping he is the guy he was in 2013.
  8. The twins need to make some organizational decisions this winter. If they decide that Sano is going to stick at 3B they should package Plouffe for a pitcher. 3B is down around the league and Plouffe could help a lot of teams out. You go into 2015 with Escobar who earned a starting job at 3B and Santana who's value is best at SS at SS. Sano in AAA. When Sano is ready you bring him up to man 3B and Escobar plays a utility role. I don't see Plouffe as being any good as a utility guy off the bench I remember he looked awful in the outfield and he doesn't hit enough to play 1B. His value is at 3b and twins should move him while he has value. Guys who are above average players at a position and under team control for 3 more years have a lot of value throughout the league.
