  1. Tampa beat writer Buster Onley told Pat Reusse on his show that Maddon raves about Minneapolis and loves the Ball Park. Take it for whatever it's worth.
  2. Honesty ????. Just Last week at the Season Ticket Holder Conference, Ryan stated that he had the flexibility to put a lot of money on one guy or spreading it around on a number of Players. What a difference a week makes.
  3. There may not be anyone left in the Ballpark by 2017. It's Very hard to get them back, once there gone. (see Cleveland).
  4. Going into year one at Target Field, the Twins raised their Ticket prices an average of 45%. The Twins gave two reasons for doing this. 1 The Team would now be responsible for the cost of operating their new stadium. 2 The additional Funds were needed to fund a substantially larger payroll. 100+ m Much of the anger and obsession with the dropping payroll comes from this issue. Despite last year's declining attendance, the Twins still enjoyed the 6th highest earnings in Baseball. Much of this can be attributed to the Twins high ticket price structure. The Twins had the option of continuing to be a small market Team with a brand new stadium. Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and San Diego chose this route. These teams brought their small market prices with them to their new stadiums. The Twins chose the other route. Jerry Bell proclaimed that the Twins were now a mid market franchise, the days of being a small market team were now over. When it comes to the price of attending a Twins game, a portion of that statement is true.
  5. I still do not understand why Mike Pelfrey was brought back. Can someone please enlighten me???
  6. Are the wagering windows open? I would like to put $10 on Casey Fein
  7. I wonder what Ryan would do if the roles were reversed. Would Ryan cough up two million dollars for a 30 day rental?? I highly doubt it.
  8. I am one of the few who believes that the WBC is a bad idea and a meaningless Tournament. 1 Many Pitchers are working themselves into shape and are not 100% 2 Many Players are altering their spring training routines, which may affect their early regular season performance. Glenn Perkins has stated, that he has rushed his spring training preparation. How will we feel if he starts the Season less effective? 3 David Wright returns to the Mets Injured. He may not be ready for opening day. (who pays his salary?) I wonder how Mets Fans feel? Twins farm hand Deolis Guerra comes back with a blood clot in his shoulder which lands him in intensive care at a Ft. Myers Hospital. 4 Many of the best USA Players choose to remain in their spring training camps. So what does this Tournament really prove? Can anybody name the Silver Medal Team from the last WBC?? NO PEEKING. A Baseball Tournament similar to the Olympic Hockey Tournament would be a different story. The mid season schedule could be suspended for two weeks. The players would be in top form. Many more would participate. We would truly see a great and meaningful Tournament. Unfortunately this will never happen.
  9. We would probably get a couple of C prospects for those two. Who is suppose to buy tickets over the next two years??
  10. Let's go with the original. The one and only Monty Hall. http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSyx1i8JjBloNw0I2PZvt9I2JHCcsp2hSTjlr5UuBT3_j9eh-oj
  11. The Twins are back to being a small market Franchise. Boy, that didn't take long. 27 Million Dollars came off the books. The Twins have plenty of resources to be an active player in the F.A.market. They choose not too.
  12. Nice Reports. Keep up the good work.
  13. You can watch almost every Twins game on Mlb TV for $20 Dollars a month. That also includes every MLB game outside of your Market.
  14. "That's one the great things about the game of baseball; a team can be good for multiple seasons and then go through a rough patch for multiple years." I don't get it?? Watching a bad product for a number of years is one of the great things about Baseball? Who is going to pay for this Team during the rough patch? The Season Ticket Holders? They deal with the 5th highest average Ticket price in Baseball. They will be more then happy to pay for a bad product, since it's one of the great aspects of Baseball. Then you have the rest of the Fans at Target Field who are paying high prices for Tickets and Food. I'm sure that they will be thrilled about witnessing some of the great aspects of Baseball. For the Fans spending money on this Team, multiple years of bad Baseball will not be a good thing. If no one spends Money, you do not have a Franchise. P.S Great work on the Blog's and reports. I just have a different opinion on this one.
  15. Andrew Friedman General Manager Tampa Rays (not available)
  16. The trading frenzy talk reached a peak when a few folks suggested that we should trade Buxton and Sano. Hopefully this fever is over until next December.
  17. Will Valencia still be the Prince of Uptown? Maybe this time, he will wise up and realize that he must focus 105% on saving his career.
  18. There is 30 million dollars coming off the books next year. Where is most of that money going, into the pockets of the Pohlad's? The Twins have the resources to seriously upgrade there starting pitching. Unfortunately, Ryan will probably stick to his old habit of bargain basement shopping. The fans may also revert to their old habit of showing up as empty seats. It works both ways.
  19. A preview of what Terry Ryan can expect at next months trading deadline.
  20. It would be great to see the Twins move their low A Team to Ceder Rapids. A lot of Twins fans would be making frequent trips. The Twins do need to get out of Beloit. Pohlman Field is absolutely substandard for an affiliated Class A Team. Most Independent League Teams have better facility's. Cedar Rapids and the Twins would be a great fit.
  21. Good points Next year, there will be 30 million dollars coming off the books. That is more than enough money to bring in several moderate price FA Pitchers. The Twins charge Major Market prices for their product. Fans will not pay those prices to see a Minor League Team. The Twins can rebuild their farm system while still putting out a good product. Other Teams have done it.
  22. Thanks for a much needed reality check.
  23. Over the last two years, the Twins have given Rochester a 102 win-186 loss product. I will give them a pass for not being grateful.
  24. You are right, everybody who advised and worked under Smith is still in place.
