  1. Parker, I didn't explain myself well. I meant that you like the technical part of the game. Which is good. Yes, there is way too much stuff flowing into Berrios' head at this time.
  2. Parker is way too technical....and I know he likes this stuff. There is too much on Berrios' plate right now. Like the the old golf pro Bob Toski(before Leadbettter and Butch Harmon) he said you can have, "paralysis from over over analysis". Pitching is really a free flowing motion...like the golf swing each individual has his own little quirks and idiosyncrasies.
  3. It would be nice if somehow Major League Baseball could take the franchise away from the Pohlads. As long as they are in charge the future is bleak.
  4. The organization definitely needs new leadership. The culture is wrong......it is now one of losing. A few years ago I listened to a round table during spring training and Terry Ryans name came up..the panelists all liked Terry, but didn't think he was suited to the role of a modern day GM. They specifically mentioned the Houston GM who would have multiple deals going at the same time. Terry doesn't think or work that way which is probably a disadvantage for the Twins. I think Terry says money is no object in putting a roster together but it probably is.... Not only do we need new management, but the optimum solution would be interested ownership.
  5. With all of the position prospects coming up this year and next season, I feel success will still be determined by pitching....as always. Seth, who are the top pitching prospects with a good chance of developing into top-end starters? And will money be a factor in bringing them up because on Nolesco and Santana?
  6. "Be careful what you wish for; a change in regime could be worse... " I would love a change in ownership--the last two years we've had the worst team in baseball. And the worst pitching staff! The Pohlads decimated the team the last two years. Usually, when a team is close to a champioship--like they were two years ago--most ownership would try to go the next level by adding some talent--a few pieces to the puzzle. The Pohlads decided to go the other way and gut the team. The Resources are there for a good team. If they wanted a good team there would be one!
  7. The answer is from Dave Schoenfeld who writes the "Sweet Spot" blog on ESPN's MLB page. I can see a scary situation unfolding in Minneapolis. Say Mauer and/or Morneau gets hurt again early this season, Target Field could be half empty before the All-Star break as the 2012 Twins challenge the 1962 Mets for the ultimate distinction in baseball futility. How long before Gardy gets his long overdue ejection by the front office, even if the Twins stay healthy? The fans have wanted his head on a platter for years. [h=6]David Schoenfield (1:12 PM) [/h] Eric Karabell just taped a video on managers on the hot seat. As you know, Twins are historically conservative (two managers since 1987), but I do wonder how long of a leash Gardy gets. It's time to change the entire organization philosophy of finesse pitchers, invest more/better in Latin America and maybe they'll have to replace Gardenhire to do that.

  9. Despite not dripping with much insight, Gardenhire’s assessment may have more to do with understanding how he is accomplishing this scorched-earth policy. T Parker, Are you saying that a guy who has been a successful big league manager and played in the big leagues doesn't understand these things? Or am I reading this the wrong way.
  10. This article really bothers me in that it gives credence to the Twins bargain basement philosophy. Do you really like to always pick up the leftovers. I'm sick of it------As a Twin fan I always feel like we are going to a garage sale--compared to the contending teams.
  11. Fantastic Jack, your basically right in your analysis of the Twins philosophy, etc. However, I'm concerned that so many Media types that work for the station that announce Twin games are not capable of being objective. That is one reason we never get criticism of the Pohlads. This cutting payroll after a few years is completely disheartening. I do think that the reason that Smith was fired was because he wanted to increase payroll and be competitive. There is enough financial assets available now in the organization to be competitive until the lower minor players are ready-- if the Pohlads are willing!
