  1. Twins fan and local activist Mike (Sammy) Samuelson dies | StarTribune.com That's the story of his passing. Below is a story about his life.... Tevlin: Some advice on living from a dying heckler: Enjoy every day | StarTribune.com On Friday night, he was the primary draw for the Hot Stove banquet (which I had to miss). He died today from leukemia. I knew Sammy a little, who I met because he was a big GameDay supporter. We would talk occasionally at ballgames, and I'd get the occasional ranting email from him. He was a world-class heckler (odd in Minnesota) and drove the Twins crazy, but the organization loved him for his passion. And with a story like this, can you wonder why? Rest in peace, Sammy.
  2. Twins relying on Willingham's production I'm sure this is just supporting his guy, but I found this quote interesting....
  3. Former Twin Carl Pavano has spleen removed - TwinCities.com Aaron says this means I'm going to lose my bet, longshot that it was. But I wouldn't be totally shocked to see Pavano and the Twins reembrace soemtime during the season, when he's healthier and reality sets in for this rotation. And I'd love to see it, because "Pavano's Spleen" sounds like a great roto team name.
  4. Benson is eager to put '12 season behind him | StarTribune.com Two takes: 1. Benson had better be excited by this second chance. Because I'm not sure there will be a third. 2. Is this a danger of the Twins not pushing guys up levels? That if they have a lost year, due to health or whatever, that there is little room for error? One more... 3. I'd love for this to be a Span/Plouffe/Parmelee situation, where he suddenly shines way beyond his previous numbers in AAA. (i'm hoping the same thing for Dozier.)
  5. Souhan: Ryan sees himself, manager in same boat | StarTribune.com I wouldn't have thought this was the case at the beginning of the offseason, but after this offseason, it might be. It's certainly not fair to judge Gardy give the team that Ryan has assembled. And given that he had money and didn't use it, the talent level on this team falls squarely on Ryan's shoulders.
  6. Twins' president: 'We're not just going to sign players just to spend' | 1500 ESPN Twin Cities ? Minnesota Sports News & Opinion (Twins, Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Gophers) | Sportswire: Minnesota Twins
  7. Ever the contrarian, Patrick Reusse finds himself more optimistic than the fan base this offseason:Reusse's Reality Script: Episode 8 (Twins) | 1500 ESPN Twin Cities ? Minnesota Sports News & Opinion (Twins, Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Gophers) | Sportswire: Minnesota Twins

  11. Club hopes Wood can follow Burton's lead | twinsbaseball.com: News Also, lots on Tim Wood could be the setup man.
  12. Injury free Mauer raring to get after it in 2013 | twinsbaseball.com: News This is insane. Why the hell would the Twins push Mauer to catch more after things worked so well last year and Doumit isunder contract for two more years.
  13. Reliever Guardado elected to Twins' Hall of Fame | StarTribune.comI guess I'm happy for Eddie, but there is no way he deserves this. Knoblauch was the runner-up, so at least this clears the path for him.
  14. Twins prospect Miguel Sano in town for TwinsFest | StarTribune.com Sano talks about where he expects to be next season and his reaction to the documentary about him, Pelotero.
  15. Twins top prospect Sano looms large | StarTribune.com
  16. Three years after big rift, Perkins feels right at home with Twins | StarTribune.com
  17. Hicks is on pace to be next in a fine Twins center field line | StarTribune.com
  18. Hartman: Morneau upbeat about his health | StarTribune.com
  19. Starting over: After awful season by Twins rotation, experience and competition has increased | StarTribune.com
  20. When 1500 was carrying the Twins, they paid something like $1M for the that programming (and got none of the advertising revenue, too). AS part of that they also had all the ancillary programming too, like the Ron Gardenhire show, etc . With the move to KTWN, my understanding is that the Twins are paying ESPN1500 to air that ancillary programming. So ESPN 1500 gets sports programming AND gets paid for it. It's not a bad deal for them, so long as they stay committed to a sorts format. (And give that they have an agreement with the U for basketball and hockey, that format likely isn't changing soon.)
