  1. I don't want to bash GM Smith but we traded Young, Hardy, Ramos, and Slowey for relief pitchers. Individually, I think all the trades were defensible but as a group, that's a pretty bad return.
  2. CF Span SS Carroll C Mauer DH Morneau RF Willingham 1B Parmelee 3B Valencia 2B Casilla LF Benson If the team does that, instead of using 1B as a committee thing, it pushs Doumit to the bench and probably prevents Gardy with going with 3 catchers. (Bench - Hughes, Doumit, Plouffe, Nishi)
  3. Yeah, that's what I'd think. Still, I'd probably bet he retires before the season ends.
  4. I think Swarzak gets the first spot start. If a pitcher goes down for a month or so (or is just really ineffective) I imagine Hendriks gets called up.
  5. Parker, I'm not saying it happened this time but a good number of times when you read a "stupid criminal" arrest, the reality was a police officer did an illegal search and then claimed the suspect was holding drugs in his lap.
  6. I'm not saying he's wrong but guys like Scott Diamond probably should be ranked higher even if their stuff/projections isn't that high b/c we know they'll make the majors. Sure, he's not as sexy as others but I think it's pretty likely that Diamond makes a few starts for the ML team this year. There will be dozens of players ranked above him on these lists that will never even get a cup of coffee at the ML level. I think that's often underrated/forgotten.
  7. Well, when he did start playing Bartlett, he never stopped playing him. I think Bartlett had worked his way out of any doghouse. Gardy had said a lot of nice things about him after he was installed as the starting short stop.
  8. I'm really curious on how Roberts will do, too. And I know he was a 1st round pick but it seems to me that people aren't as excited about Michael as they should be.
  9. Right, but at that level tools win out over production, which is why Sano is so high and Rosario isn't ranked. If scouts were as confident in Rosario he'd be ranked. Some are - KLaw Goldstein and Sickels all had him in their top 100. I think Rosario's power is a bit of a mirage but he should be a good avg/on base guy as he moves up and (hopefully) sticks at 2nd. If he can stay there, even with the power drop, he'll be on this list next year.
  10. Great, thanks guys.
  11. Obviously, guys like Hicks and Gibson can get back on the list. Rosario and Arcia probably have to show a bit more at higher levels and/or stay healthy first. I thought Hendriks had a shot to make the lest. He's not overpowering but he has solid numbers and was one of the youngest pitchers in the EL last year. In any event, our farm is probably somewhere in the top 15-20 range but it could shoot up pretty fast. We have a lot of picks this year, hopefully some of our guys (Hicks, Wimmers) bounce back and guys like Arcia, Salcedo, Michael and Rosario develop.
  12. I'll be in Ft Myers on the 18th and 19th but it's an away game (to Boston which is in Ft Myers) and an off day. If I went to the Twins complex on either of those days, would there be anything to see? What I'd like to see are some of our minor league prospects instead of the major league team. Any chance of that or would that be off limits to visitors? Thanks,
