  1. No need to get defensive. But cable cutters are absolutely, positively, 100 percent the reason the cable/satellite model is failing. And do you not think if there was a streaming option offering to pay the Twins anything close to similar money, the Twins would have jumped at it? And then do you not think said streaming option would have simply passed that cost onto you?
  2. I think perhaps "streaming" isn't nearly the cash cow cable was. Not long ago, if you wanted good TV service, you had cable, or satellite. Viewership was concentrated on a couple options. Cable and/or satellite had enough subscribers To be able to pay a Ballys enough to make it profitable for everyone. Now, with 300,000 streaming options, nobody has the viewership level to pay a Ballys enough. Including cable/satellite. Ballys isn't producing those Twins broadcasts for free.
  3. At the heart of this issue lies ?50? percent of TD readers. Those of you who are "cable cutters" torpedoed the sports-on-cable model. You did so knowingly, and deliberately, so it's a little hypocritical to be up in arms now when the torpedoed model sinks.
  4. Ballys settled with Cleveland and Texas for 85% of their previous contract. Widely speculated by smart sources the Twins got roughly the same 85% of last year's ~$56M. This was all over TD this spring.
  5. In the meantime, for those of you in the Twins blackout area, Fubotv is an option.
  6. I'd imagine Ballys will most likely declare bankruptcy again. That's a lot of dough they're not getting. So in a sad twist, the Twins might end up not even getting the ~$47M from Ballys they settled for. I'm not really sure, but "TV contract" falls under Dave St Peter, no?
  7. Gotta go. Granddaughter is starring in a school play. As I understand it, the role of the dancing tree is subtly the key to the entire plot. Bring Home #9, ladies and germs. Try the chicken. Remember your wait staff.
  8. I just got back from a two day stay in the VA hospital. Unfortunately, I had to have surgery to remove 3 fingers from my right hand. I asked the doc today as he was clearing me for discharge if I'd still be able to use the hand on a keyboard to post on TD. "Yeah, most likely," he said. "But I wouldn't count on it."
  9. I thougt we were talking about win probability added. A pitcher who walks the bases loaded, then gets 3 Ks, added the same win probability as a pitcher who skips the 3 walks?
  10. The actual numbers are irrelevant. Arguing that three positive events added with two negative events is equal to the same three positive events added alone is nonsense.
  11. Then why did you post THIS EXACT QUOTE? "Julien is leading the team in plate appearances so the “he is not playing everyday" argument lacks credibility." At the least, own up to your own lack of credibility. And with that, youre on ignore.
  12. You're not using the correct measurement. "Team leading" number of PAs doesn't measure whether a player is a full time player. Measure against the league. One month in, and Julien trails the MLB leader by over 40 PAs. He's 30 behind dozens of players. Julien is not a full time player.
  13. I dont think this is accurate. Three positive events (outs), combined with 2 negative events (baserunners), aren't equal to 3 positive events. For example: 1 + (-1) + 1 +(-1) +1 Does not equal 1 + 1 +1 Both mathematically and intuitively, getting 3 outs with zero baserunners in a one run game does not have the same "win probability added" as getting 3 outs while allowing a walk and a hit. Your own explanation proves that (the "up slopes.") WPA is worthless, but let's at least understand it.
  14. I've always been a huge fan of the Carlos.Santana signing
  15. Well we know who to blame for THAT abomination of an inning.
  16. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/02/al-notes-mejia-bellinger-yankees-carter-twins.html Santana was always gonna get the overwhelming majority of playing time at 1b.
  17. 1. I never said Castro is a full time player. 2. Santana, on the other hand, was absolutely signed to be a full time player. 3. However, the point being discussed in the post you quoted was "There are no every day players in MLB anymore " Which is categorically false.
  18. Correa activated, Martin to St Paul.
