The players know and the players have a feel for the game and while they'd never publicly voice their disagreement with a manager's move (players play, managers manage, etc), I'm sure there's chatter in private circles outside the clubhouse between the players, especially the veterans, that they don't support a lot of the things Rocco does during a game.
