  1. Walker might never play an inning of OF in the Major Leagues, and Vargas can be cut from the 40 man any time and I won't shed a tear... Yeah this comes across as shuffling chairs around the deck of the Titanic, but finding at bats for someone when Danny Santana, Adam Walker, Kennys Vargas are the ones most likely effected doesn't seem to be cause for great concern
  2. And Danny Santana can? Fine, I would rather see Rosario, or any warm body in CF than Danny Santana... release Santana and let Grossman be the 4th OFer until Buxton is called up. I tried my hardest to defend a Twins move this season and failed it appears.
  3. Right, I'm ok with this move if it means no more Danny Santana... but like you said, that's extremely unlikely.
  4. I'll be the contrarian here - they have already messed with the prospects... that ship has sailed. Buxton and Kepler appear to be in AAA for the foreseeable future, and I'm not concerned this will have a bearing on them. In the meantime, like as soon as next week. I for one would MUCH rather give Grossman a look in CF than having to watch 1 more second of Danny Santana.
  5. I'm still completely confused what your point is or why you're telling me that. You felt I needed a reminder that Greg Maddux is good, Nick Blackburn is bad?
  6. Wait... what? How in the world did you make that jump? "Hughes cannot survive in the rotation with a 91mph fastball" in no way means "No one can survive in a rotation with a 91mph fastball" In what possible way to get you that I was comparing Duffey to Greg Maddux?
  7. Well I don't recall years of people sticking up for Gardy (didn't we want him gone 2 years before it actually happened?), it was pretty obvious in 2 or 3 of the 90 loss seasons that the teams were 90 loss teams. The General Manager said before this season began that winning the division was the realistic goal - they are 10-27. And yeah, I put much of it on Ryan... I'm just disagreeing with your Gardy comparison
  8. Personally, I've seen enough of Molitor and would be happy if they fired him now. Not many managers would be able to survive something like a 63 win season during a year in which the GM and others were on record as saying winning the division was the plan. Part of the reason I would make the move in-season, is I would like to see Doug M or Gene Glynn be given a look - not that I think they should be the next Manager, I would let the new GM bring in his guy.. But give them a few months to see if they could potentially be the next guy
  9. If having a few bad starts breaks them, they were never going to make it either. I'm not the one who has suggested their confidence was already shattered
  10. The best part of these arguments is the people pretending to know where players confidence levels sit (Berrios, Buxton, etc.). Maybe, just MAYBE, they pitched or played a crappy game, something that's certainly happened in their careers before, but are professionals capable of moving onto the next day. MAYBE, the confidence takes a real hit when they are told they aren't Major Leaguers anymore...
  11. Thibs was an elite hire - the comparisons to Hoyer aren't great, since Hoyer has a job with a great org, Thibs was out of work, etc. But the Wolves after years and years of being a "1st Ave Country Club" did go outside the box and hired the best possible candidate. Which, if Hoyer was at all interested in stepping out of Theo's shadow, he would be as well.
  12. I look to Glen Taylor as my inspiration in that prediction. One of the most incompetent owners in sports (Pohlads also in that group) didn't do the easy thing and bring Sam Mitchell back to coach, he went out and made a great hire. As losses pile up this Summer, the public pressure is going to mount, both on the Pohlad's and on Terry Ryan. Once it really starts to hit them in the pocket book they will realize changes need to be made.
  13. It's not just money, the Twins can offer him the President of Baseball Operations role, allow him to choose his own GM, etc. The total control he won't have in Chicago. I think it's a pipe dream, but I'd be surprised if its money that stops it from happening
  14. I actually think the 1st one is pretty likely. Maybe I'm getting my hopes too high, but at this point I would be surprised if TR is around next year.
  15. Please please please make Reusse right for once.
  16. A mistake was made, this is a fact. In the 2015 evaluation that said this guy is worth rostering all year, because we can't afford to give him back to Atlanta, and keeping him on 40 man last Winter. Or in early May 2016 that said this guy isn't worth a 40 man spot. I don't see how that statement is even debatable.
  17. Still missing the point. Who is even talking about his stats? I for one could care less that he's not on the team anymore, I never thought he was worth keeping around, starting last June. Were there not professional baseball coaches watching him the entirety of 2015, you keep avoiding that pretty important tidbit. What does John Hicks have to do with it, last I checked he never had a 25man spot, let alone for an entire season.
  18. Missing the point. He threw bullpens and the Twins pitching coaches saw him plenty last year. They had a crowded minor league bullpen pecking order last August as well, and also in November when they protected him on the 40 man
  19. I guess he's an option as well. Great game tonight, too bad his manager sent him out for the 7th when he had no business still being in that game
  20. Milone gave up 2 runs in 7 innings tonight... The question right now might be who makes Saturday's start, Milone or Berrios
  21. He was on the DL, and activated in mid September... he pitched I believe 2 games in relief before the season ended, as he wasn't stretched out to start... not quite the same thing most of us are advocating for - a permanent move to the Pen
  22. Bad for multiple years, and yet still in the rotation because they have big contracts, and Milone didn't... the example you used is kind of my point.
  23. Yes, the same Tommy Milone that was tendered a contract this winter, assuring Trevor May would not be given a shot at the rotation, and contributed to Duffey and Berrios starting in AAA And come on - Tommy Milone was on a 1 year $4 million deal... Phil Hughes today, is still owed something like $47 million... you can't really think that's an apples to apples comparison?
  24. Ok - since we're both just guessing there is no point to bicker back and forth. Previous history suggests veterans will be given priority - I hope to be wrong
  25. May was performing better than Berrios has so far. Pelfrey was sporting something like a 4 k/9 rate and 3 walk/9 rate... and was fresh of 5 starts where he went 24.1 innings gave up 23 runs, struck out 11, walked 13.
