  1. again, maybe so -- he's already 26 and might have washed out with more plate appearances. but he's also a switch hitter who posted an .833 ops (while showing flashes of ability from both sides of the plate during three seasons of limited play). hard to establish "trade value" when you're seen as a aaaa player ...
  2. maybe so for 2017. but for 2016, when the alleged "crunch" occurred, sano was splitting his time pretty evenly between rf/3b/dh/dl. seems like the twins missed a chance during a lost season to find out a lot more about the potential for vargas's future either as a contributor or a trade chip ...
  3. it boggles the mind to think that a 103-loss team could have enough "roster crunch" to keep from taking an extended major-league look at vargas.
  4. he's got money! he'll have made well over $100 million by the time he's done! what he doesn't have is a world series appearance!
  5. why on earth would he want to sign with a 103-loss team?
  6. this string has become the warm security blanket i never knew i needed.
  7. it's a thread, thread, thread, thread world.
  8. certainly seems like a long time ago! to infinity and beyond ...
  9. my friend has a friend who has another friend. he/she says the twins are holding out for koufax and the dodgers will only offer drysdale. or the other way around.
  10. youse guys talking about retired journeyman relief pitcher chad bradford? a career 3.26 e.r.a. is pretty good, if you ask me. this is a BASEBALL site, right?
  11. i know a guy who knows a guy who knows this other guy. says the deal all comes down to the number of pine trees versus palm trees.
  12. there is a certain someone who could shake this whole deal loose with one little tweet. believe me.
  13. not a good trade for the twins. in 107.1 total innings against sale, they scored at an e.r.a. clip of 4.28. that's higher than league average in every season since sale's debut in 2010.
  14. team with lower payroll gets home field.
  15. how much would the hypnotist cost? the one who'd have to convince him to sign with a 103-loss team?
  16. as kramer once said: that's kooky talk.
  17. and i'm thinking you're both right.
  18. good game. a frightening number of elite and soon-to-be elite players on these two teams.
  19. a rare case where calling something "the best" might actually be correct.
