  1. Dante Hicks, of course. http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/13/13aef6638f92131cd092ac85d2260c0439447e7e9674ca3b4a286e5a4b36fd17.jpg
  2. Guess the game's no longer on the line... Oh well. Thanks for the company, all!
  3. This one? I wouldn't mind so much if only we were scoring runs...
  4. Don't all the gas giants have rings? Saturn just gets all the press 'cause they got more bling.
  5. I want a couple of runs. And don't care how too much... I'd even settle for bunting.
  6. And Mauer starts us off right. But don't get too comfortable at first base, Mr. Mauer (as a runner, that is)
  7. Just quoting it so i can see it again without going back to a previous page. Really got nothin' to add. It says it all.
  8. I think, if i ever name a domed sports facility, it will be the wisdome...
  9. Don't underestimate his contribution, which was to the pitcher's hubris.
  10. Here's to the through-coming of Dozier, scoring Buxton from second, and advancing to second on the throw. 4-1 KC (2 outs in the 3rd) er... 4-2 as Mauer does likewise. CBU.
  11. I don't think the chicken is done. Give it time.
  12. I think that merits a promotion to Colonel... If he came up more often with 2 outs, he wouldn't hit into so many double plays.
  13. "Bring 'em on! I'd prefer a straight fight to all this sneaking around." And i'll start working on a general solution to the game thread intro problem: The game thread intro spam bot: you may already be a winner!
  14. I don't wanna Sano to ail either. But i'm lookin' forward to the youngsters in the outfield...
  15. Anyhoo, good night all, good work, sleep well, most likely er... join ya in tomorrow's game thread!
  16. I had in mind the line that ends "how marvelous" but would have accepted the one about "an overdeveloped sense of vengeance"... But i sure approve of most any other line, including "i hope we win!" Thanks for the high turn out! "As you wish" is particularly elegant, being self fulfilling.
  17. (Afore-promised Beppo Roadsweeper quote... I'd almost forgot. I promised to look it up in an actual book, and i typed it up...) "You see, Momo," he told her one day, "it's like this. Sometimes, when you've a very long street ahead of you, you think how terribly long it is and feel sure you'll never get it swept." He gazed silently into space before continuing. "and then you start to hurry," he went on. "You work faster and faster, and every time you look up there seems to be just as much left to sweep as before, and you try even harder, and you panic, and in the end you're out of breath and have to stop--and still the street stretches away in front of you. That's not the way to do it." He pondered awhile. Then he said, "You must never think of the whole street at once, understand? You must only concentrate on the next step, the next breath, the next stroke of the broom, and the next, and the next. Nothing else." Again he paused for thought before adding, "that way you enjoy your work, which is important, because then you make a good job of it. And that's how it ought to be." There was another long silence. At last he went on. "And all at once, before you know it, you find you've swept the whole street clean, bit by bit. What's more, you aren't out of breath." He nodded to himself. "That's important, too." he concluded. This being from Momo by Michael Ende (er, translated by... J. Maxwell Brownjohn)
