  1. Just a couple runs in the first. It wouldn't be very sporting of us otherwise, would it?
  2. Sorry. I meant to say the number 18 still means something, it just signifies something different. In this context, it just means they had more chances to do something with the runners, than say if they had 12 total individual lob but still 7 team lob. But yeah. All triviata. Scores are what matter in the end, and we didn't. Sorry i conflated the two to begin with. Mea culpa.
  3. I suppose comparing team lob and sum of individual lob says how long they were left there on average. If they are equal, no one got on base until there were 2 outs. If one is 3x the other, everyone got on before any outs (i actually could be wrong on how double plays work... or pick offs and sundry base running events) Anyway... what, 8 hours until today's rematch?
  4. Yeah, numbers tend to mean what they say rather than what you want... Bu i kinda assumed it was sopphisticated enough not to charge any lob to those who don't get out... But it still rewards double players for not leaving said runner on.
  5. Simple ar-thmatic. Part of the ars taught in pirate school. 3 bases, 9 innings, filler up.
  6. Thanks. Not caring to see the box score, i assume this is the classic conflation of individual lob and team lob? I suppose the max total individual lob is 81 for 9 innings? so we are even shyer of our potential... Oh well. Used to disappointment.
  7. 18? We can leave more than that! Why, the theoretical max is 27!
  8. Short is good. Thanks for doing the thread intro by the way. Enjoy being at the game!
  9. That would be 15 points in scrabble. Admittedly, some silver linings are more difficult to detect than others...
  10. Rosaio time! (Sorry i failed to point out Kepler time or Vargas time.)
  11. At least he's not latterday Knoblauchin' it... How often have his throws been beat out?
  12. So... I take it they shifted left? Then let's just hit it, right?
  13. Did gameday actually say "Popped out to 3rd baseman Miguel Sano." Hurray for the little things in life. "And there was much rejoicing."
  14. Most of the plays i notice he fails to set his feet, or any other part of his body for the throw. Small wonder if there is some arc. Occasionaly that is due to the need to beat the runner, but i wouldn't be surprised if he is just living the good life of a short range second baseman. How is he on the relay?
  15. Ah, to bring home the lumber. I bet he will get another crack at that... Hope his chin is doing okay.
  16. There is something familiar about their catcher...
  17. Good to hear. Does he remember how to use them?
  18. We are down 1-0 already? Not to worry. The Boston series has spoiled me.
  19. One moment... Finding gameday, and distracted by food...
  20. If Chiefisms are too difficult... What about Gilbert and Sullivan? New England is said to have societies for 'em aplenty (i forget who said it, but i remember reading/ hearing it...
  21. Oh yeah... Weather... (looks out window) Sunny. Straight out of Lawrence of Arabia. The trick is not minding...
  22. 5. Sometimes less is more. 4. If that is the case, how can you tell? 3 days ago, Riverbrian wrote a fantastic game intro about the colour green. Not to be confused with the colour red. This thread became the coming green thing. And then the game started, and a trouncing happened. Not by ounce, but by the pound. You might even call it a pounding. 2 days ago, i wrote something, now lost in the sands of time, aka the game thread archive. It was probably trying to be clever too. But while well received, response was spartan. Like the offense in the game. But the Twins pulled it out. 1 daze ago, A long thread. It says it is hot. And people actually discussing baseball. In a game thread. I know. It surprised me too. And the wind blew. And the Twins won again, somehow. These are the kinds of games "good" teams find a way to win. I am out of my element. Not that i have an element, i suppose. So 0 dyas ago... or today, as some may say. there is final game this season between the Twins and the Red Sox. The game is the players to play, and the game thread is yours to post. With further ado, namely mountain dew, 'cause i like it, But ot each there own. What is your beverage of choice? And do you have a favorite Chiefism? Or pointless joke? Twins Pitching: Tommy Milone (L) Batting: 1. Eduardo Nunez ( R) SS 2. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 3. Miguel Sano (R ) 3B 4. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B 5.
