  1. Just crossed me a bridge with the sign Julia B Buxton memorial bridge on it. I don't see that last name very often outside of this site. Maybe it is a sign? ( well, of course it was a sign, but...) Anyway, prepare ye the way for Buxton. As a voice crying in the wilderness or something. Wildernesses can be scary.
  2. I hope we win! But i'll be satisfied with playing well, having fun, and a few funny jokes for ever widening definitions of funny. If i'm not very talkative here, please just imagine me doing my homework for the good of the team.
  3. Hey look. Today's Saturday, the 14th. This must be today's game. I hope we win!
  4. I see Minnesota pitching has yet to allow a run. As expected.
  5. I heard the score update Thursday evening from friends, one of whom was an Orioles fan, who when mildly mocked for it, immeadiately reeled off a long list of great things about Baltimore, of which the inclusion of pink flamingos stuck with me. I invited him to write it all down and send it to me so i could use it in an intro any of these last three games. Alas, i guess he has been busy. Still wondering what ties a pervasive lawn ornament to any particular city. Also another failed-to-be included detail to be worked in: one of my elementary school attempts at poetry was an ode to my orange radio with the handle generator which i used to listen to baseball game broadcast. So i mentioned the Twins Orioles game, but as i was using the affectionate diminutive 'Twinkies' i felt it only appropriate similarly call the oposition 'Oreos' I recently looked up how many flavors of Oreos there are... It is worth looking up yourself. Alas, that is more Baltimore and more Oreos, not more Orioles... Maybe Birdwatcher can assist here?
  6. The lazy Mississippi is rolling on down to that there bayou out into the gulf of Mexico. What, with prevailing westerlies, i expect the breezes at todays game will wind up somewhere on the east coast in a few days. That there sun reflecting off home plate may tickle an alien astronomer's telescope in a few years or more. If they don't have to work for this game thread to happen, well neither do i. Some murmering memory wafts by of the Cobb fellow as a possible off season acquisition. Mayhap we'll learn something this game. All that said, i don't think this game will ever happen again. So y'all better pay attention if you don't wanna miss it! Orioles Alex Cobb (R ) 1. Tim Beckham (R ) 3B 2. Adam Jones ( R) CF 3. Manny Machado (R ) SS 4. Mark Trumbo (R ) DH 5. Chris Davis (L) 1B 6. 7. Nothing is stopping us from making music... Circus blues, an untapped genre i assume. Now where did i leave my calliope...
  8. Oh yeah. WINNAH. (So let it be written, so let it be done) Bu alas, i can take no credit. Good job, Y'all!
  9. Not a music reference, but have you seen the sad clown in the iron lung?
  10. A gamethread named Sue. "To sampleSizeOfOne: We question your integrity as a game thread introducer. Please contribute more prominently during the game proper. -Modern Jiminy Cricket" Sorry. I had me a rehearsal during the game last night, and am about to rush off to a parade today... "I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!" As i won't be around to help it grow strong, i figure i'll pull out the stops on meme like cultural references that i know. Feel free to add your own! 3 things to think about. 1. Anybody got a peanut? 2. What's your vector, Victor? 3. Bear left. Right, frog. 4. Yesterday, all our troubles seemed so far away. 5. is right out. Orioles: Kevin Gausman ( R) (404 error: line up not found) Twins Kyle Gibson ( R) 1. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 2. Eddie Rosario (L) DH 3. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B 4. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B 5. 11. Chicken is also childhood game... But i'll go old school and just say "WINNAH" seeing it has yet to be said...
  12. Are we there yet? I get out of rehearsal with a 6-1 lead. I won't complain...
  13. Oh, a special shout out to duck duck duck duck grey duck.
  14. Children's game game thread: What all were yer favorite games as a kid? And how am i going to tie that in to introduce a game thread? I don't know, but i figured i'd try. Baseball, after all, primarily a childs game. Promotes sportsmanship and teamwork and all them good stuff. Develops loads of hand eye coordination. Encourages fitness. Brings out all the buzzwords, don't it? Anyway, the incipient kids game that gave rise to this line of thought was Simon says. Simon says, "Catch the ball." Now throw it over the 1st baseman's head. Simon says "round 3rd and head for home." But you don't have to slide. And what brought this up was imagining the inverse game played after the fact, featuring Excu instead of Simon. But that's just me being clever. And i don't yet know how its working out for me. Anyway, back on point. We need two captains to make teams... and to decide who chooses first, how many fingers have i up behind my back... Oh right. It's the major leagues, and here be yer line ups: Orioles Dylan Bundy (R ) 1. Tim Beckham ( R) 3B 2. Adam Jones ( R) CF 3. Manny Machado ( R) SS 4. Mark Trumbo (R ) DH 5. Chris Davis (L) 1B 6. Jonathan Schoop (R ) 2B 7. Trey Mancini ( R) LF 8. Joey Rickard ( R) RF 9. Caleb Joseph (R ) C Twins Lance Lynn ( R) 1. Joe Mauer (L) DH 2. Eddie Rosario (L) LF 3. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B 4. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B 5. Logan Morrison (L) 1B 6. Jorge Polanco (S) SS 7. Max Kepler (L) RF 8. Jake Cave (L) CF 9. Mitch Garver (R ) C Gametime Forecast: 81°F • Clear • 1% PoP
  15. That's fine 1 knee = 2 feet, so i've been told.
  16. And how many have baseball teams? (include minors for extra credit... Oh right. I'm supposed to be the one doing homework...)
  17. Alright. I'm done. You can sit back down as far as i am concerned...
  18. Please rise as i play the star spangled banner...
  19. Yes, i can imagine that. Which is perhaps the problem. And i can thus pitty all the states without capitals. Facing major league pitching is exhilerating... well i'm sure it is, but it can't compare to showing up to a final exam with most of building blocks of the class, but not really having fit them together before, and trying to come up with coherent answers to everything in the allotted time.
  20. I bet it didn't. See, this is what i get for not doing my homework... Someone got any red pens? I guess i just felt like assuming the capital was the city with the baseball team. Shows what i know.
