  1. If you had a bag of blue corn tortilla chips (because that's the best kind) that were all stale and chewy, you'd probably realize after a while that the bag is not going to miraculously crisp back up and be ready for the glory of pico and guac. That bag would eventually find its way to the basura and you'd eventually find your way to the grocery store for some new chips. We need some new chips. Correia, despite the fact that I love the sound of his name, is probably on the top of my list. Yesterday at a signing my buddy asked Correia if he ices his shoulder, does stim, deep tissue massage, etc. His answer was along the lines of 'Nah, I don't do that. Some players do, but I don't.' I am glad you are so confident in your game and your 5.06 era... I'd like to see Suzuki stay through the end of the year. Gardy too for that matter, through at least 2015. Get May and Meyer up here for a little playing time. Worst case scenario... they gain experience. Best case scenario... they blow everyone's mind. Non MLB prayers/projections - I'd like to see the MN girls RBI team make it to the World Series in TX in August and kick butt!
  2. Tickets!! Can't wait to WIN some front row tickets... #stampsonstamps Am I right in assuming that the Light Rail is the transportation of choice the whole way to TF?
  3. I'm in, plus 1! Ill also be be working at Fan Fest all week (outside of game times) over at the negro leagues exhibit at the Minnesota Black Baseball table!! We're located on the left side of the room close to the big baseball diamond. Little redhead with her arm in a cast. Come say hi!!
  4. Florimon!! Favorite pizza vote would go to the Rossa (Broders Deli). Anywhere else and it probably falls to a Margherita pizza. I'd rather have a margarita, but not sure Papa John's would oblige with that one.
  5. ^^Reider is my new favorite poster. #TeamTorpedro
  6. Don't know where else this is appropriate, but there is definitely SOME excitement for #TwinsTerritory starting here in Minneapolis. I passed about 9 people wearing Twins gear on a loop around Calhoun today!
  7. For the casual fan, what they see is the bottom line: is it getting us anywhere positive? This is obviously going to take time to implement, analyze, and then figure out what the heck to do with it. In the mean time… the rest of us can sit back and number crunch all we want. (Considering that we probably would have been anyways, with or without the new data.)
  8. I don't think any coach or manager could "mandate" that an athlete has surgery, but they can certainly not play them if the athlete doesn't return to pre-injury performance with rest and rehab. [iMO] The Twins have a solid medical staff, and they already gave the non-operative a try for quite some time.. no dice. The other big piece of the pie though is the athlete's motivation to get back in the game. If their sport is not only the bread n butter (or chicken and rice ) of life but also the source of their income… they're probably eager to listen to the expert's recommendation (and hopefully get two). They want to move forward to hopefully get through rehab as good as or better than before. As a competitive athlete who's been under the knife a few/five times, there is a lot of psychology wrapped up in navigating injuries. To take no action, wait it out, and hope for the best "in due time" is a pretty helpless feeling, and rest and daily PT can definitely feel like no action when yore not seeing commensurate improvement. Flipping into my clinical mindset... I don't think an athlete should just jump on the table and wait for the propofol at the first sign of an injury. In general though, I don't think the coaching staff has to bargain much - in my experience the athlete is usually the one who wants to cut first. (God bless and my apologies to anyone I ran across during my rehab and pre-op days. )
  9. He was great! I got lucky with my seat selection yesterday (see photos) so it was pretty easy to chat with the crew. This has honestly been one of the best trips of my life to date… going to be next to impossible to miss this next year!
  10. Where ya sitting today JB? I'll come say hi! ... My biggest question (/concern) was how Florimon was doing after his appendectomy, and when he would be back!? Not that I'm in love or anything. Per Scott Ulger yesterday, not until next week, which is when I'll be back in Minneapolis of course. Le sigh... I always really like to hear the veteran players (and secured roster spots) thoughts on what the hurdles are going into the year. Not always easy to get an honest answer on that, but they know it better than anyone. I would also like to ask Gardy if I can adopt him as the grandpa I never had. Akin to the Adopt a Highway program… I would just like to adopt a Gardy.
  11. Agreed… I want Arcia back up north. Unfortunately, my confidence between Kubel and Parmalee is about as solid as flipping a coin. Watching yesterdays game compared to Friday and Saturday with the Red Sox… it just felt like somehow we were playing our B squad against the Ray's top team. A little harsh, but the difference was palpable. Nonetheless, very fun to see some of the Twins young guns, especially Buxton and Meyer, before they get shipped off. And I got Buxton's autograph! Add to the Twins Apparel that I can never wear ever again.
  12. MAN what a great day at Hammond!! We sat in about 4 different spots, including a trip up to the press box. Definitely missed a spot with the sunscreen, which is just fine since I'm sure my vitamin D was sitting at about 7.3 before I got here. Looking forward to a little field trip up to Port Charlotte tomorrow - anyone we should be looking for? Halsey - I'm coming back with my dad in May to look at a few houses! Are you in Ft Meyers or outside? Any neighborhood recommendations?
  13. Halsey - you're down here full time, right? I might have to talk to you more later... possibly have convinced my dad to migrate south, but I don't have a clue where to start looking at housing. My friend doesn't land until 10:50 tomorrow, so after swinging back to the hotel I'm not sure that we'll get to Jet Blue too much ahead of time. But I anticipate Saturday/Sunday/Monday to be all day baseball (and sunny and 80!! ) so perhaps our paths will cross at Hammond.
  14. Red Fox has entered the den. And changed into shorts and a tank top, damn!t!! About 50% of my flight was wearing Twins gear… so good to see. Red Sox at Jet Blue tomorrow Red Sox at Home on Saturday Rays in Port Charlotte on Sunday Blue Jays at home on Monday And after Toronto, only 4 teams left to check em' all off the list! Is there any time restrictions as to how early we can get into Hammond (or the sports complex in general)? Would love to check out who's playing on the rest of the fields.
  15. Flight leaves in 4 hours... Fort Meyers by 2:00!! Who is already there?
  16. I am both extremely happy for him and slightly depressed. My biggest Twins crush!
  17. Thanks Thrylos, and ChiTown! I will be at that February game, and the 1st/2nd/3rd in March. I was just assuming the minor league schedule was out already… but I guess I jumped the gun. Too excited!
  18. In regards to minor league spring training staying at Lee County, can anyone tell me where to find a link to the schedule? I'm either blind and can't find it on their website... or blind and can't find it on their website.
  19. I would love if they adopted more of a Sports Center Top 10/Not 10, player of the week, "Inside the Clubhouse" and behind the scenes type stuff in between innings.
  20. And then when you finally DO get the hot dog guy's attention, you realize you just wound up with Mr. Theatrical who nearly takes your eye out with his overly ambitious hot dog extraction methods. Please tell me someone knows who I'm talking about...
  21. I love that they pick their own music! I just wish they would display the song/artist somewhere while it's playing… maybe I'm hallucinating but I was pretty sure they used to put this up at the dome. Mauer is excused, as I'm pretty sure people have figured it out some time within the last eight years. The dance off… 5% fun, 95% painfully awkward. Mayo is great and a significant sponsor, but I'm sure they can come up with something different. My vote: Those ridiculous floppy hats that they gave away last year on Mothers Day. I took my mom to that game and the first words out of her mouth after being handed that hat were "Wow those are butt!!!!ing ugly." Fact.
  22. Prayers for a quick recovery sent your way, TR! Pretty sure MLB Network and some Twins fleece were part of Dr. Eyunni's prescription. Where can I send it? http://static.squarespace.com/static/51ae2d43e4b02d329fa1f414/t/51b0ef3ae4b0eb5ef9fd9e5f/1370550076213/TwinsatMayo.jpg?format=1000w
  23. Interested in CK's question ^^ as well. Halsey - are there any local favorites for MN transplants?
  24. Maybe? Possibly? I'll be there the 27th - 4th.
  25. I guess now is not the time to ask if anyone is interested in sharing season tickets in 3?* Parker, you can make the Pizza face a 40-game occurrence in 2014! Minn55441 said it right - I / you / 'we' will be there regardless. I might be scalping more than splurging, but I'll be there. But riddle me this… the Cubs, also 66 and 96 this year, have a season ticket waiting list. They've had one for a long, long time. They've had loosing records consistently for many more years than the Twins (no WS in 105 years), but even comparing just W/L record averages from 2000 to 2013: Twins: .547 Cubs: .513 I get that Cubs fans are loyal until death do they part. I don't exactly want to be known as the team that always looses but has damn devoted fans anyways. But when the going gets tough, the indifference of the majority of most Minnesotans [TwinsDaily is of course not a representative sample ] is disheartening. *True story, if anyone is interested please let me know asap!
