  1. The moderators have ruined this website IMHO. I rarely check this site for info anymore.
  2. I used to find good reading material and good comments here but now ....I don't know. Maybe the fact that there's really no hope for a World Series anytime in the Terry Ryan/Ron Gardenhire/Joe Mauer led Twins. It's not that this team has been bad it's been fundamentally unbearable and these clowns all keep their jobs. What is a life long Twins fan really supposed to see that they like in this Twins team? Top to bottom everything about the Twins stinks.
  3. I don't think Garza is as big a prize as some make him out to be. This whole thing is a big nothing the Twins have no desire to make the team better by spending money.
  4. Where as Garza has already peaked I think Nolasco is still improving in the mental part of pitching. I think the Twins did well to sign Nolasco and Hughes for the prices they did, but I feel like they missed when they decided to bring back Big Pelf. There has to be a better option than the human pitching machine. Pelfrey's career WHIP is very close to 1.5 and was over 1.5 last year!
  5. They probably gonna offer Garza something like 3 years 50 million and see if he bites.
  6. I just can't see the Twins sacrificing any draft picks in such a deep draft. This is a whole lot of nothing. It always is with Terry Ryan.
  7. I remember following that 91 season very closely as a young boy. I would go to the park and throw with my friends and imitate the Scott Erickson wind up. I had no idea how to throw a slider so at least I didn't ruin my elbow! Those were the days when the Twins could actually pitch and play defense. Whatever happened to those basic fundamentals? I cannot remember a single time last season when the Twins played small ball and manufactured a run. Gardy always plays for the big inning.
  8. Sherman is the AJ Pierzynski of football. If he played for the Vikings I'd love him, but he don't. So he should shut his garbage mouth!
  9. My big beef with this off season is Pelfrey. Why bring him back? Could just as well get a 95 MPH pitching machine to put on the mound every 5th game.
  10. Constantly we hear this tripe in MN sports. I swear being "a good guy" is enough to get you millions of dollars playing for ANY of the professional sports teams. Here's a little wake up call SUPREME TALENT wins not SUPREME CHEMISTRY. Besides if you're team has a strong leader even "bad apples" will fall in line.
  11. To me this is a gamble. I don't think Gilmartin is gonna make it but why not take a shot at a left hander with this kind of stuff when healthy.
  12. I still think they should be trying to bring Baker back home. He belongs in a Twins uniform. I don't really put a lot of value in Pelfrey being able to perform terribly last year. Him being on rehab assignments all year would have probably been better for the team.
  13. I think the Twins need to get Meyer up by June 1st.
  14. I like Deduno. I don't think this shoulder problem is done though. I suspect he'll spend a lot of time on the DL this year.
  15. They aren't really planning to keep Florimon as the starting SS, are they?
  16. I really think Deduno is a long shot for this year. I really like the Hughes and Nolasco signings. That being said I don't think this team, even if everything goes perfect, and they make the playoffs, will ever win in the post season following the baseball philosophies of Gardy and Andy.
  17. Terry Ryan is one of those guys in real life. He's not acting. Now you're a little scared huh?
  18. Hear, Hear.
  19. If you take these guys at their word, good luck. Ownership and the Twins front office have done nothing but lie for as long as I can remember. There's always some constraint that makes this scenario or that scenario unfetchable. Yet teams in similar market and even smaller markets seem to make these same scenario's possible. Judge them on their actions and results. Many of you will point to all the division titles as varification that the Twins Way can be really successful. I don't see it that way. All those division championships led to total embarrassment at the hands of the AL east in the playoffs. All because TR didn't want to mortgage the future to bring in a rental player like Cliff Lee. REALLY you are talking about the future from 2009 so that would be right about NOW. Well it's a good thing we didn't trade prospects back then because then the team would be really bad right now........see where I'm going?
  20. This was good. It was fair. Still I cannot help but feel we the fans and tax payers have been treated unfairly. Isn't turn about fair play? I actually think the MN nice thing with most of the fans has gone too far and the fans need to be way more disillusioned and harsh with their opinions. In MN we have to push hard because the pro sport franchises have cocooned themselves inside a market in which they complete control the media that continually spins their terribleness into something that is simply cyclical or not ownerships/front offices fault. It just gets so tiresome.
  21. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Jim Pohlad, Terry Ryan, Dave St. Peter and the rest of the people controlling the Twins have shown us exactly who they are and that's why my educated guess is that they won't bring in any expensive/game changing players via free agency. It'll be more AAAA players that have washed out in their previous org. and low walk no stuff having starting pitchers. It's ALWAYS the same thing with Terry Ryan.
  22. NO! We will simply complain about Ryan being cheap until he isn't! Then and only then will we change our complaining. Then, we'll complain endlessly about how irresponsibly he spends money and how out of date his methods are for choosing who to spend the money on. It will never end because Terry Ryan is a schill put there to take this heat, and he's paid handsomely for it, so that little weeny Pohlad can sit there and pretend this wasn't the plan all along, so he can pretend he didn't intentionally defraud the Minnesota tax payers. Yup, it's all Terry Ryan's choice to field a terrible team and look incompetent in the public's eye. We all like being perceived as failures.
  23. Pelfrey is so bad even he makes Correia look good.......now think about what that really says......do you still want him back?
  24. Parm needs to visit a sports psychologist. He is just trying way too hard and that doesn't work. Hicks needs to realize that he's a RHB and his career could be saved. He will never hit quality pitching from the left side. He would have to improve more than any hitter I've ever seen and I'm not saying that's impossible but highly improbable.
  25. The Twins won't even pursue any of these guys. I would bet the farm on it. They will sign a couple bums or maybe only 1 FA starter this off season but they won't be a guy who misses bats at an MLB average or higher. It just won't happen because those guys want $$$. Terry Ryan is simply in a competition with himself to shrink payroll as much as possible, judge him by his actions not his words because they are to completely different things, and that is the only logical reason for his actions since returning to the GM's chair.
