  1. I'm not saying change is what should happen but that was last year and I agree Florimon did nothing to lose the job but the idea is to always get better. I spent 25 years in Sales and you had to prove yourself every month every year. If not it was bye bye. That type of pressure from management kept everyone focused. If Florimon was Jeter I could see naming him he starter before the spring but he is not and they have lost 90+ for multiple years...just makes no sense to me. As an example last year there was a quote from Terry Ryan that they wanted to bring in competition for 3rd base they didn"t and Plouffe did not progress. Maybe he wouldn't have anyway but the point is sometimes being pushed helps and sometimes not being pushed hurts.
  2. He very well might be the best option but he is certainly not so much better than Escobar that you anoint him the starter before spring training. Doing so reduces competition which may negatively impact both players performance. When you lose 90+ for 3+ you should keep an open mind.
  3. Wow ! Great article. Really improved my insight. I Love Colabello's story and hope that the Twins at least give him a fair look. I thought the way he was used last year was not conducive to getting a realistic look at what he could or could not do. I have no idea if he can be a productive player at the MLB level or not, but I know that giving him a start every 3 or 4 days isn't going to tell us.
  4. This is part of the problem. Designating a sub-par guy as your starter before spring training is foolish for a team that has been as bad as the Twins for the last 3 years. Wasn't there a comment before last year that players were going to have to earn their spots? whatever happened to that philosophy?
  5. Love Escobar! saw him here in Rochester 5 or 6 times last year. Plays with a love of the game and Twins fans will embrace him. He has versatility and I think of Nick Punto with better bat, slightly less glove and no head first slides into first when I watched him.
  6. Thanks for the laughs I needed that. BTW Gardy already named it...you guessed it Liggy
  7. Yeah you are right it has been some of their best players and that is probably why it stands out more
  8. Wasn't that a shoulder injury? kind of apples and oranges
  9. Not blaming this at all on the Twins Med staff/trainers but doesn't it seem like the Twins have had an unusually high number of TJ surgeries? Maybe all teams do and I just don't follow them close enough to know but it just seems to be one after another lately. Oh and totally agree with Kblack's comment...rest never seems to work.
  10. Ok I get it now lol. never been really clear on how the roster stuff works but I'm guessing cause he was DFA that means out of options so if we claim him we keep on 25 man or have to DFA as well? is that right?
  11. Oh Ok I don't know if he is out of options or not. So if he has options can Twins claim him and stash him in Rochester?
  12. So sad and hopefully not true but based an prior history probably is...big sigh
  13. A little off the thread but I think the Twins should try to sign Andy Parrino who was DFA by Oakland yesterday. Plays multiple infield and outfield positions and has always hit for avg. at AAA plus some pop until injured last year. Plus he is from the Rochester area so great draw for Red Wings and good depth for a team with little middle infield strength
