  1. Seeing Morales on the bench surrounded by 5 young Hispanic kids just drives home the idea that the Twins need to add a Hispanic coach...or two.
  2. I would prefer they stay in New Britain but only because I was born there (only lived there for 6 months) and I now live in Rochester NY. It just feels like good karma to me to have the top 2 minor league teams in cities I have lived in.
  3. Gardy has been down on them since Nick Punto got one and sprained a thumb sliding head first into 1st base;).
  4. whoa grab the reins Nellie lol. I hope you're right and you might be, but saying "start of a new Trevor Plouffe - one that should be a building block of the Twins in coming years." is way too premature. I do really like your analysis of what has led to his early season success, but lets not go too far just yet. # hope you are right!
  5. Harmon it has to Harmon and pepperoni and mushroom with double cheese.
  6. Well that would work fine if we could DH for him but unfortunately position players have to hit and as I said if he can hit 230/240 then his defense makes him best option but hitting <200 makes him an offensive liability. unfortunately the Twins don't have a lot of options but I watched Escobar here at Rochester last year and well he is certainly not in Florimons league on defense he held his own and is a much better hitter...so as I said give Flori a week and if no improvement send him down and give Escobar a shot and at least see what you have
  7. Sorry and I am not a Florimon hater, but good defensive ss who hover around the Mendoza line are not "a special talent". I do believe he will hit better than he has so far and if he can get to 230/240 then he is the best option but if he doesn't improve in the next week I think the Twins should send him to Rochester to regain his "stroke" and see what the have in Escobar
  8. Deduno was their best starter last year. as for track record I can agree with you on Nolasco and Correia but Hughes track record is not good. Yes Gibson has the most upside. Deduno is a starter and earned his chance to start. as for your comment that there is no excuse for pitching poorly in the bullpen... starting and relieving are apples and oranges and some guys can't do both well. I am not advocating for a change yet but if things don't improve then Deduno should be 1st option into rotation
  9. I had several chances to watch Escobar last year with the Redwings here in Rochester. I am not a talent evaluator but he made all the plays, he hit and he was a guy who added some spark to the club which the Twins desperately need....just like I have said about Colabello for the last year just give him a good consistent long look and find out who he is... oh yeah and he tossed my grandson a ball so he has a special place in my heart lol
  10. Thanks Seth. These reports have become my favorite part of TD.
  11. My bad colabello already in I must have been crying in the other room when he came in
  12. So Gardy did you know Kubel can't hit lefties and you have Colabello on the bench?... same old same old. On a positive note we are deep in DH. We have 3 starting today 1 at DH 1 at 3rd and 1 in left...big sigh
  13. Bats? "I do not think that word means what you think it means"
  14. Gardy hates him some rook(ies)
  15. Great article. Can't wait to be sitting at Frontier Field with a dog and a beer watching Meyers deal. I have very high expectations for this Wings team.
  16. I am by no means a computer expert but I had a similar problem recently with explorer and it was solved by going to windows tools and adding compatibility for the site I was having problems with.
  17. Totally agree with this. He was used poorly last year he needs to have consistent at bats!!! playing him once every 3/4 days is filling Gardy's self fulfilling prophecy of who he is. Give him a real stretch of consistent play and see if he sinks or swims. This comment goes for several other "young" guys who get in Gardy's doghouse.
  18. Earlier this week the Twins brass were complaining that players weren't earning spots. Colabello has certainly earned his and if they decide to keep Kubel instead then they are sending a mixed message. I have always liked Kubel, but he is not the future of the Twins and has done nothing to indicate he should be part of the present. I will be very disappointed if Colabello does not go north with the team...my only consolation is that I will get to watch him here in Rochester.
  19. Agreed. I can't see a team with the most optimistic upside of being 81 wins giving up on guys with no options and possible trade value for a guy who has options/is on the team control clock.
  20. You may be right and I think that was the original thinking about Deduno. Now I think he may be showing enough health to grab the 5th spot which allows them to put the better of Diamond/Worley in the pen. I too hope Gibson starts the year in Minn but because he has options I am guessing he starts in Rochester
  21. Totally agree! I am surprised how good Deduno has been. I really didn't think he would be ready coming off the shoulder surgery. Not only has he been better, but I believe his upside is much higher than either of the other two.
  22. OK no problem. All I want is for the Twins to be open minded as to who the best players are. I doubt that either Flori or Escobar are the long term solution and hope Santana is...as to who makes the roster this year it really doesn't matter cause 78 wins is probably the best to hope for sad to say... But hope remains eternal and we all want the same thing...
  23. I never said Escobar should be the starter. I said it was not a good idea too name Florimon the starter before spring training. Plus I am not as convinced as you are that Florimon is the better option. I will assume that your "first time caller-long time listener" was not meant to insult me as not as astute as you and others simply because I have not posted as often. As my name suggests I have been a Twins fan since 1971. I live in Rochester NY I go to about 10 Redwings games a year and watch many more on TV. I am by no means an expert on baseball but know enough to have my opinions respected regardless of how often I post them.
