    While I respect your right to an opinion, I highly disagree with your statement that it fetishized war, I also have to add that NUMEROUS past baseball players were Veterans. Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Stan the Man, on and on and on... try doing a google search. Maybe more baseball players should join the reserves like Hall of Famers like Clemente and Carew did. Do the America themed Baseball caps make it even worse then during the 4th of july? Baseball supporting the Military goes back far. Now a days, around ONE percent of the country are in the military and those people gave time (theirs and their family's) to protect their nation in the capacity they are given. I automatically respect a Veteran that has served their country,they would be a good samaritan in my opinion anyways.

    Hopefully the Twins instead swoop a 55 mill offer on Garza instead of wasting any type of money on Arroyo. I have no prob though if they go for drew or young tho.

    Gotta love stepping backwards. No idea why we should "hand" either of the two jobs out of spring training. I would rather have Colabello as an outfielder than Kubel and Florimon/Escobar over Bartlett. I would say its safer to see one of them on the DL ending ST a la Cole DeVries than coming with for the opening series in the Regular Season. Retreads are the Twins MOS though........

    Say we do sign Garza, what does that mean for our AAAA starters, package them to be sent to somewhere else? Its not like there are many spots in the bullpen really..... Maybe send some people to Korea to play, and I aint talking basketball for Rodman.

    Worst case scenario, there is a retirement ceremony around July or August where everyone wants tickets to say goodbye to Johan. Probably draw more tickets than the All-Star game.

    Signing a 37 year old virgin (to Target Field/AL) with a 3 year is far more infuriating than someone still recovering from/working back from Tommy John. Pelfry has at least spent a year here and would be a cheap cut compared to Arroyo if he went Jason Marquis on us.

    Mauer to pitcher! The highest paid in the offseason. He has an arm, he played QB and that would be the reason to get Johan over here and be a teacher to someone who has caught him.

    At least if Hicks fails, he can fall back on becoming a pitcher. I would take that over any of the subpar returns. Dude can still field like a boss though.

    Is there any word if any of these games will be televised? I would assume if Buxton is the top cieling prospect in the minor leagues, MLB, ESPN or at least FSN would want to try and get something showing him strut his stuff again against other up & comers in the minors.

    With the drop that Burton had from last year to this year, your case make this a very important issue. I'd hate to have quality pitching this 2014 year and then have the bullpen give up the games again........

    I'd rather take a flyer and overpay on Lincecum, Santana, Haren, someone else or some1 else 2.0. If they money for pitching can be done just with that High expected posting fee, why just throw it away when we can get some1 who understands english well enough and is able to work with his teammates out of the ballgames? That just seems far smarter than spending the imaginary money that the Pohlads will theoretically drop.

    Pfft, I'll believe Terry Ryan any day over a Pohlad. Terry Ryan isn't the one who sold us on funding a new stadium so we could increase revenue. All big name pitchers on 1 year deals. Its not like we can do any worse.
