  1. Drools. Rodon/Meyer/Stewart oh joy!
  2. Hopefully the 2014 Luke Weaver "steam" is the same as the the 2013 "steam" on Reese McGuire. Makes me feel just about as ishy.
  3. He tweeted last night that he accidentally posted his rough draft, and that he hates Wordpress. haha.
  4. Are you thinking more with the 2nd rounder? Doesn't seem like he'd be in the #5 convo based on what I just dug around in. Never know though this far out.
  5. I was pulling HARD for Buxton and literally jumped off my couch when the Stros took Correa. Then, I was terrified that we were going to pass on him. I stood up and was 2 feet away from my TV when they announced the pick and fist pumped so hard I might have popped a vein or two when they announced BB as the pick. As to why? I just had read far too many scouting reports talking about his ceiling and his speed and his overall projectability that I thought it was worth taking a shot on the guy with the potential to easily be the best in the draft. Teams have been bitten in the ace many times trying to take a "safe" pick, so why not swing for the fences on a guy with by far the most potential? So glad he's a Twin.
  6. Definitely a Kolek fan as well. Also like Turner a lot. Would be pretty happy either way. If they do take Turner I'd hope they'd take another talented HS pitcher in round 2.
  7. Just that little blurb is more exciting than anything else in Twins fans short-term memory. Excite!
  8. Yes, lots of exciting and intriguing possibilities, and it always seems like when it comes to draft day, something wonky happens (like Gray NOT going 2 last year) and you never know, one we (as fans) covet could fall to 5.
  9. I had hopes that since Garza/Brewers wasn't official yet that we were trying to swoop in, but I know that's highly unlikely.
  10. Is the draft here yet?? Haha Seeing the MLB minor league rankings with the Twins well-represented and 2 in the top 5 is pretty awesome, not to mention that #1 is all ours! Got me pumped. Get to add another top 5 pick. Can't wait! But have to wait.....
  11. I like Gatewood, and I've kind of tuned him out since they think he'll be a 3B (with Sano in place) but I should think more BPA. By the time they get to majors, never know, players could be hurt/traded, etc. That said, I'm still leaning pitcher if we can - Kolek if there, otherwise I do like Turner - I think he could be an awesome table-setter along with Buxton for Arcia, Sano, Mauer to drive in.
  12. Yeah I really like what the Royals did too. With the crapshoot that is the MLB draft, if you can lock down two of the top 30 or so guys, much better odds one of them pans out. If both do you've hit the lottery.
  13. I agree on Callis>Mayo, was going to say that but forgot. But either way, cool to see the recognition. Add in another highly skilled player at #5 this year and we'll be on our way in a couple years.
  14. Cool to see that Mayo liked the Twins draft the best out of anyone last year, highlighting Stewart, Eades, Gonsalves and Turner. Check it: http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=31271123 I was all the way for Stewart last year, but it's Gonsalves that has me excited from this class. Shoulda been a 1st rounder, but couple ticky-tack things dropped him. Lucky to have gotten him and got him to sign. Hopefully Eades can become a decent 3/4/5 type of guy.
  15. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal9s Source: #Rockies acquire Brett Anderson from #Athletics for Drew Pomeranz and Chris Jensen.
  16. I think this could prove to be a value signing. Lots of positives about him. Seems like a smart dude with a strong work ethic. Wonder if it's something about NYY with these 1st round pitchers. Joba didn't pan out. Hughes hasn't. Ian Kennedy figured it out AFTER he left NYY. Let's hope!
  17. I agree on pitcher - that's my first choice. And you have a point on SS, Kwak - that's why I lean Turner if we go position player. He's a speed demon, and projects to stay there with his lean build. I feel like having him on the basepaths with Buxton and then having guys like Arcia, Sano to drive them in would be a slick combo. Gatewood is very intriguing with his power, but they worry about hitting overall - also, he's likely to bulk up to 3B and with Pelotero we obviously don't need that. Yeah, so for me it would be BPA (Best Pitcher Available) then Turner, then probably Jackson. LONG time left though, things will change, just fun to get talks started!
  18. Jim Callis and Jon Mayo put together their first mock today, each picking a player for each team in the top 10. Check it out: http://ht.ly/rrTjc SPOILER: . . . . . . . V Jackson and Beede Myself, I've been leaning Kolek, Hoffman or Turner but I understand Jackson especially with the Mauer move. I still don't like it, but I'd get it. Also, Jim Callis hopped on Twitter and a couple Twins questions came up:
  19. I like it! Prime him up to take over for Gardy in a couple years?
  20. Yup! Very early, figured I'd start the thread and we can post/discuss as the months go by inching towards the draft!
