    We put that to bed really quick. I mean the hilarity of discussing Aaron Hicks as a ROY candidate just illustrates how far there is to reach to pull a positive out of this season.

    Comparing 2013 #s to career #s and coming up with a narrative is really silly. 78 PAs mean almost nothing. He's been elite with RISP throughout his career.

    I can assure you that the owners are not happy with the season despite their profit. The key is winning enough to keep the fans in the dark about how much payroll they are cutting. Fans are pretty upset, not to mention players like Mauer who were given promises that the FO would try to build a winner.

    Sano is still my #1 prospect. Buxton is ridiculous but a 30-40hr hitter at 3b is incredible. There aren't really any comps for Sano's power. He's that good.

    It would be incredible if people stopped showing up for games if the payroll continues to be at 30-35% of revenue. I can't blame the twins at all for continuing to take their profits. I blame the apologist fans that keep purchasing the products of a business that puts a poor product on the field. Luckily they've been in a historically bad division so it appears to fans they've had a lot of good seasons. In reality they would have missed the playoffs nearly every year in a fairer playoff system.

    Saying something doesn't make it so. What metrics have Mauer as an average offensive first basemen? I used career ops and woba to show he would be well above average at 1b and you're using what, # of doubles? You're gonna have to do better than that to have any credibility given how blatently obvious it is that Mauer would be an above average at 1b based on every metric known to man.

    His career OPS would put him at 5-6th this year for 1st basemen. His OPS this year would put him at 3rd. His career WOBA would put him at 5th in MLB. Which metric could you possibly be using to put him below average offensively at 1st?

    Is there a precedent for a guy entering the minors at 89 and improving his velocity significantly?

    Scouts that I respect universally rave about J.O.'s stuff. There's no right answer here but I think Gibson is likely to be somewhere between a bit above average to a bit below average. I'm def open to the idea of Meyer first though.

    Or ya know his babip will fall as will his strikeout rate given that we have thousands of previous ABs to compare to this 60 game sample. I guess it's more fun to find trends and attach a narrative to them.

    Take a statistics course. The sample isn't large enough. What's the theory here? He totally changed his approach despite being the best contact hitter in baseball? He aged months and can't see the ball as well? Seriously?

    I still think that Hicks has a good chance to be a nice player but come on with "at this rate". He's been a horrible major league player and a .707 ops as a + for him illustrates how bad he's been. He needs time in AAA
