  1. Dave Cameron of FG writes that the Twins will be overpaying Mauer by $60 million over the remainder of his contract, making his contract even worse than Prince Fielder's: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/dead-money-which-players-have-the-most-negative-trade-value-071614 . Maybe I'm an optimist, but I think that Mauer is just in a slump. Cameron himself says that Mauer is only a year removed from a 5.2 WAR season, so I hope when he comes off the DL he shows the OBP prowess we all love. His rising K rates and falling BB rates are a concern, and he is definitely worth less at 1st, but I think once he figures out how to hit against the shift he will return to normal.
  2. Plouffe is the doubles machine
  3. Does Kennedy have more hits than Florimon?
  4. I was dreaming of the Correia no-hitter. Remember when Philip "Perfect" Humber?
  5. I agree that Fuld is the best defender of the group, but Parmelee is much worse than Hicks. He has terrible range so he can't get to a lot of balls -- he only looks good because he catches nearly everything he can reach, so he makes the most of his abilities.
  6. I can see it, thanks for sharing!
  7. My Dad was at that game but sadly missed the 2nd triple play while he was in the bathroom.
  8. As a GB% increases, BABIP goes up and then back down, according to this: http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/index.php/site/comments/matt_and_batted_balls_part_2_a_thread_about_baseball/#1. This can be seen by how weak the groundballs Deduno typically gives up are. Those aren't going for hits. It also helps him to have Florimon and Dozier behind him. Deduno also ranks 7th lowest in LD% among pitchers with 70+ innings, and LD% is a huge factor in BABIP. Batters can't squarely hit the ball against him. I think it's reasonable to expect Deduno to keep a low BABIP, but he probably won't continue to be so lucky with men on base.
  9. I don't know why I even watch games when Pelfrey is starting...
  10. I love watching Deduno, so I'm excited. His pitches are just crazy.
  11. Target Field is a really tough place to hit homers, so keep that in mind when comparing the Twins' long balls to other teams.
  12. Your love for Slowey cracks me up. Is your Shane Mack paint your proudest drawing ever?
  13. Why didn't Perkins come in to face Davis? With the bases loaded and the best hitter in baseball (currently) up, I think you bring in your best left arm.
  14. Hopefully we slaughter Tillman again tomorrow. We got seven runs off him in the first inning last year, and he didn't even finish the inning.
