  1. I agree with everything you said, but I will add that Clemens is 2.6 WAR, hit 26 homeruns, led the league till the end of May in 1B defense. I don't know why everyone leaves him out?
  2. We've been backed into a corner, that the management painted, we have no choice.
  3. BTW, as of now Cody Clemens currently sits at 2.6 on fangraphs. He is our 1B next year.
  4. To Harmon, what is your solution, and why?
  5. Do we really want to play roulette with the DH? What happens when of the four mentioned goes down? Batting DH is not necessarily a "breather". but can take a fielding player out of their rhythm. Bell is the consummate DH. Bell was also in the top three of almost every hitting category for the Twins. For his production, he was very affordable. Also, he is a clubhouse guy.
  6. Cody Clemens should be the first choice within the Twin's organization. He's under control through 2029, made a base salary of $800K this year, as of the end of May he led all of MLB in Runs Saved at 1B, he's a ballplayer, a good club house guy, and hit for power.
  7. The most glaring part of McDaniel's assessment is what the Twins don't have. There isn't a single player in Minnesota's current core who qualifies as an elite player. Byron Buxton is the lone player in the Plus category. McDaniel views him as a player capable of providing roughly 3-5 WAR value, but the Twins don't have anyone in the elite tier. The Solid category is much more crowded. That group includes Taj Bradley, Walker Jenkins, Vahn Lackey, Kaelen Culpepper, Luke Keaschall, Brooks Lee, Kody Clemens, Marek Houston, Connor Prielipp, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Royce Lewis, Riley Quick, Hendry Mendez, Khadim Diaw, Zebby Matthews, Andrew Morris, Mick Abel and Kendry Rojas. There's certainly talent there. Talk about a SSS! Except for Lewis (I still have my fingers crossed), we have a lot to look forward to.
  8. I agree, but I still have stock in Ryan if they can get his conditioning sorted out. Especially if we're looking for a mid-season trade. The caveat is, I'd like him to stay as a Twin, in top shape.
  9. All due respect, that year, I wish we would have retained Sonny.
  10. Damn straight! What if they "shake out" good? How many of our Twins have been with us for five years? None, except for dead weight. That's a dream. Specially in a small market team. Unless we sign stupid contracts. Keep contracts short and sweet, and we'll land our feet.
  11. I trust him more now than last year. He's learned how to accept what he has and does the best he can with it. We should all learn the same lesson, and accept it. BTW, he has been pretty filthy at times!
  12. They made it to the majors, give them a break! I know it's the end of the year, and we're all disappointed, but at least this group is giving us something to look forward to. That's something!
  13. Thanks RC, I always respect your posts. Check this out while he was with the Twins: Butch Wynegar Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com
  14. But has anyone gotten better beyond a "teach to the test" improvement like France? I said this before in a previous post; Clemens was five defensive runs saved at first base at the end of May leading all major leaguers. We only moved him out to give the streaking Lewis a place. How'd that work out? We could have had a threepeater gold glove at first base. Our coaches are doing great!
  15. Trial by fire; Lackey. It worked for Wynegar. Why not? Give him plenty of opportunities in Spring Training and see how things shake out.
  16. When the Twins went 1 & 2 for catchers in the draft, and we already had Tait and Diaw, I was impressed. Besides athletic SS's, there is probably the greatest shortage of hitting/defensive Catchers. Talk about an inventory for future trades and internal competition to get to the Twins! Please, make sure they are brought along properly so we don't waste their given talent. "God did not give us dreams, without also giving us, the ability to make them come true." In other words, don't hinder them, help them. Just saying.
  17. Careful what you wish for, one of our TD contributors was asking/hoping Larnach would be placed on the IL, before he was injured just to make room. Get well soon Trevor, and best wishes for your future. As for the contributor, keep your eyes in the back of your head.
  18. BTW, Wallner's arm is way stronger than Keaschall's, how did that work out?
  19. Target field's right field is smaller than left. Sure, move him to left in larger ballparks. How often does a right fielder throw all the way from right to third base? He has been on target for hitting the cut-offs. He knows the limestone. Plus, he's righthanded.
  20. BTW, the loss to the Yankees last night must have been too depressing to write about.
