  1. I don't agree with the pessimism about resigning Gray. If he wants to return the FO should offer him enough of a contract to make it happen. I think the FO has to sign either Gray or Maeda. People who expect Paddack to be a number 2 starter based on his limited appearances are dreaming. If he starts spring training as the number 5 starter that's the right level. This year showed you'd better have seven starters ready due to injuries. Varland, Festa, Winder, SWR, Dobnak, et all, will be competing for those slots. There will obviously be some sort of trade to resolve the second base/right field oversupply. Polanco and Larnach are the most likely to be traded IMO. Trade targets; relief pitching, backups who can hit and not strike out as much. I expect they will keep Taylor due to uncertainty about Buxton. That's also the reason they have to resolve the second base oversupply. They can't go into 2024 expecting Buxton to make a full recovery and slotting Julien at DH. They are best served to keep the DH free for Buxton and to rotate players thru it for a rest.
  2. Floro & Luplow. Neither have done much.
  3. Most Twins will hope but not believe until they win a playoff game; and a series.
  4. I expect that if the Twins think that Julien is viable long term that they will trade Polanco and some of their corner outfielders (Larnach, etc.) for pitching this winter. They'll certainly let Gallo leave without an offer. Hopefully they can work out a deal with Grey to stay.
  5. I'm sure he'll be back and that they'll limit his innings/pitches and combine him with Varland or Winder so that he'll (hopefully) be ready for the post season.
  6. It depends on whether you like the Twins of the 90's, win the WS in 91 and contention in 92 followed by years of stinking from 93-2001 or whether you like the Twins of the 00's, where they competed most every year (two game 163's) and made the playoffs often but only won one series. It probably depends on whether you think that every baseball season has one winner and 31 teams who are losers or whether you have a more nuanced understanding of competition.
  7. I expect that Polanco will be traded this winter. Then second base will be fought over between Julien and Lee. At least one of the left handed outfielders will be traded as well. Pitching and a right hander who does well against left handed pitching will be the trade targets.
