In the Jenkins draft, it was projected that five draft picks were head and shoulders above the others, so getting the fifth pick was tantamount to getting one two three or four.
What's the prognosis for this draft?
The need in the BP is higher than the need in the rotation. Especially if Paddack is retained. Seriously we could have a six man rotation assuming Ryan's health. But why have a situation where Jax could only influence maybe one win a week versus three as a reliever?
If we're cutting some Willi money and worried about starters, there's always Paddack until he's gone as a fifth Starter. Let's say you do trade off SWR, a Pablo, Ober, Ryan, Festa, Paddack rotation isn't horrible.
Also, the fan base would be more supportive of a Matthews or Festa deal than one involving Pablo, Ober or Ryan, as have been described earlier this week. Is the window still open, that's the question.
