  1. Yeah, I think he does have better stuff than Diamond. That's why I'm intrigued by him.
  2. I knew that once Diamond wasn't going to be able to start for the opener that it would be Worley. He's the most talented pitcher on roster besides Diamond. He had a rough spring but I 'm still excited to see what he can do. I think he could be pretty good for the Twins this year. So, I agree with Worley getting the start. Besides, who else would you start?
  3. For the record, I think that it's a matter of rebuilding at this point but if we continue to see low payrolls as our young prospects are coming into their primes.........I might lose it.
  4. That thing is that the Twins are becoming the Marlins. Build a new stadium, cut payroll, pocket cash. Not to the same extreme but it is very, very frustrating.
  5. All I know is when they say they'll spend 50% of revenue and then they come in at ~$80m for payroll, passing over every good FA on the market I find it hard to believe there is not a spending cut in effect. I know that Ryan's strategy has always been to build through the draft and aquiring prospects but I think the Twins with a new stadium should be able to be more liberal with the wallet.
  6. Hopefully what we see in the regular season from our starters isn't what we're seeing now or we might set a record for losses this year. Crossing fingers that they are "just working on some things" and we don't have a rotation with a 7 ERA.
  7. I think if you are a professional athlete you should keep yourself in shape. However, if it doesn't affect play it's not that big of a deal. Some guys can do fine while overweight others can't. By Kevin's own words he's not as good when heavy so he needs to figure it out. I know one thing, my range of motion on every thing has increased a lot since losing 40 pounds and I am no doubt more flexible in the hips, waist and legs which would be important if I could pitch.
  8. Yeah, I'd have to say if he really had any chance of playing his way onto the team he's on it right now. A lot of spring training left though.
  9. I like him a lot, just hope he plays well enough to warrant it.
  10. I see him as taking a step back in production this year. Not sure exactly why except that most of the projections I've seen think that will be the case and I wonder about health problems.
  11. From what I have seen he does have a changeup that is effective at times, it's not a plus pitch for him though. I still say his cutter is his best pitch and of course he has a decent fastball. So I think he does have 3 pitches but the change is clearly the weakest. After looking at more of his games I noticed that his curve is not as good as I thought and is in fact useless...lol. So I'd say he's a 3 pitch guys though that 3rd pitch is fringe. I think if he can just through the changeup more consistantly and in the right spots it would be huge change in his peformance.
  12. Not sure how much stock to put into projectctions but flipping through my copy of Baseball Prospectus 2013, the the Twins only have a couple of players projected to have better years than last. Several projected to have worse ones. Mauer and Willingham are expected to be about the same, Morneau is expected to have a slight improvement, and Parmelee and Hendriks are expected to make a nice improvement. Doumit and several outers are expected to have down year but Doumit is expected to have the biggest drop. On top of that none of the prospects are projected to really contribute very much. So if Baseball Prospectus is close we're in for a year similar to last. Hopefully they are wrong...lol.
  13. Bottom of 5th: Plouffe replaced by Mark Sobolewski at 3rd. Tim Wood for the Twins pitching to Izturis and he flies out. Rajai Davis up 1-1 Davis singles over Morneau, just finding an open spot.
  14. Plouffe walks on 4 balls. Chris Colabello up. Count 3-1 Colabello grounds out, Plouffe advances to 2nd. Benson up, 2-2 count. Benson strikes out on an off-speed pitch to end the inning.
  15. Dozier has looke pretty solid in the field today. Top of the 5th: Twins up 5-3 Pitcher: Schwimmer for the Jays Morneau bounces out.
  16. Sorry, would have done some play-by-play posts had I realized people would be following.
  17. Sounds like all the Outfielders have had good games. Mastroianni made a real nice jumping catch against the wall earlier in the game.
  18. Gottcha, I guess I just assumed that you were listening and that's how you knew he was out. It sounds like they just had him on a hard pitch count and he'd come out as soon as he reached it.
  19. Anyone else holding their breath with Morneau's slide at home? Whew.
  20. I think that the only thing that really matters for Pelfrey in spring training is that we see improvement throughout. He was up and down in this outing but we saw some good things in there as well.
  21. Well, he said he wanted more "Pop" in the lineup. I guess "Pops" is close enough.
  22. The OP didn't say can't have a sense of humor.
  23. You mean we can't call people ****** and ****** because they're ******** ?
  24. You guys have a mild sense of humor.
