  1. When he entered the Target playing field with fanfare last year, I had confidence in him. This year, the blinking lights and music has alerted me to potential danger. He seems to normally permit hitters to get on base which promotes nail biting. UGH...
  2. Correa has been taking batting practice lately and could be activated soon also.
  3. It is time to tip my hat to Kyle Farmer who seems to be doing an about face (3 homers in 5 days) after having some very tough months. Also, he is better at second base than Julian.
  4. I will get off the topic in order to mention praise for a member of the Twins who has put forth efforts to help the community. Not only is he one of the top pitchers in the American League, but he is also a great human being. Vote Pablo Lopez for the Roberto Clemente Award. via the link below. 5. I believe that it will be decided in about 10 days. If they cannot muster series wins against the Reds and Angels and at least go even with the Guardians, they will be in a heap of trouble, The playoff contender Red Sox will dine on them at Fenway the following series if they don't match those hurdles. The Green Monster awaits!
  6. Your comments were well written, thank you. However, one point that should be made....it was Correa, himself, who announced publicly a concern about the plantar faucitis foot injury being a topic connected to the ankle issue from his past. Also, plantar faucitis can reoccur but hopefully will not for him. I speak from personal experience.
  7. Hmm.. I was unaware of that Pohlad situation. Interesting that the headline on their website at the moment centers on hawking $9,00 seats for the upcoming games. I am still keeping my fingers and toes crossed that they could limp into the playoffs.
  8. Note to Pohlad Family. You have to spend money (obtaining new players that might help at the end of the season to make the playoffs), to earn money (filling the seats at Target Field). Take cues from the Royals who took that approach (e.g. Tommy Pham who hit the Twins well last weekend).
  9. Well,,,how about the kids making up 40% of the team's payroll ...The Twins did not spend money on any additions.....they were running around the field today prior to the game. Injured Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton getting closer to returning to the Twins' lineup (msn.com)
  10. Well, my main point revolved around the fact that he pulled Ober last weekend and Rocco has done it in the past in an utterly ridiculous fashion. Just FYI...Gray made a comment this year while with the Cardinals about Rocco and his short leash when he was with the Twins. If you listen to SKOR North Podcast today, they really highlight this "Rocco pulling habit" and substantiate this via statistics.
  11. When I was a young kid, I attended my first Twins game and was impressed by the pitcher, who was simply fantastic! For the first time, I read about his background in the link below which included a Cy Young Award, fight promoter, and carnival barker. ...and a baseball salary that is so low compared to the likes of Correa and Buxton. #CardCorner: 1970 Topps Dean Chance | Baseball Hall of Fame
  12. I fully agree, but it has reached a point where there should be no full-time dependability whatsoever on Buxton. One only needs to view his inability to stay afloat year after year. With him, it goes beyond conditioning. They need to have a plan to input a SOLID full-time player in that spot instead of playing musical chairs in CF. Alas, the high priced "Buck Truck" is now a used vehicle in need of constant repair and the warranty has expired.
  13. Maybe he stated it in the end, but he still wasn't too pleased with the pitching issue. Several sources (articles/interviews/podcasts) document it from his time with the Twins. Sonny Gray is Sick of His Short Leash (minnesotasportsfan.com)
  14. Somebody needs to show Warkins a video on "How to Coach Third Base." The number of times that he has sent runners on to home ending in outs is in the double figures this year. They are up against two teams out of the playoffs (Angels and Reds) followed by the Guardians There is a good chance the playoff picture will be solidified after those games. If not, they will then face the playoff contender Boston.
  15. Yes....Correa is known as the "leader" by many. He has been present in the dugout during the home games. It would be nice if he makes an attempt to at least DH. It has been almost 2 months since he has been present in a game. He stated that the Nike spikes don't work well. Can't NIKE do something to help him out? If not, Ohtani and many others use New Balance which are more "foot friendly."
  16. Two runs in three games in tough to handle for a fan wishing that their team makes the playoffs. I have tickets for the red Soc games at Fenway and it may be over for the Twins by that time. I made a post on the last game comparing Ober being pulled early to comments made by Sonny Gray in 2022. Below is an article from 2022 regarding that issue which is still current today. Is the analytics rational on switching pitchers mentioned valid? Sonny Gray is Sick of His Short Leash (minnesotasportsfan.com)
  17. Probably right, but there is proof via comments that he made last year that he wasn't pleased with being pulled in situations similar to what took place with Ober on Saturday. Well, he has been having a decent year in St. Louis. The Twins sure could have used him this year, but we needed the money to pay for the Buxton's continued IL stints and Correa's return to the IL. :(
  18. I have to chuckle at his intensity in the dugout between innings. He paces back and forth and never sits down. When his mother was interviewed by Audra during his first start, she said that he has always been that way. He gave a very decent post-game interview. One concern that I have is Baldelli's treatment of these three young starters. I am certain that Ober was very deflated the way he pulled on Saturday. A manager's treatment of his pitchers' mindsets can impact them greatly. It was a reason why Sonny Gray departed the Twins.
  19. “I go to the mall and I go to the Dior store and I want something, I get it,” Correa told reporters on Thursday of the high-end clothing brand. “I ask how much it costs and I buy it. So, if you really want something, you just go get it." “I’m the product here, and if they want my product, they’ve just got to come get it.” New York Post-September 2022 A podiatrist advised me not wear canvas shoes (obviously not Nike), since they lack support and can lead to plantar fasciitis. Correa has stated that one problem that he has is tied to his Nike contract requiring him to wear their spikes. He has stated to reporters that the Nike brand hurts his feet, but he won't try another brand. Although, he has no challenges with Dior shirt.
  20. Realistically, Kepler will not be playing for the Twins next season. Sporting News has put out an article about the Twins moving on from Santana next year also. I know there are Buxton fans out there, but the Twins need to think about a good replacement next season due to his repetitive injury prone modus operandi. I understand that they cannot dump him due to the salary, but a PLAN B must be developed. One only needs to examine his past history. It would be foolish to think that they could depend on him to be healthy next year. Several players have had to fill in for him this year due to there not being a Michael Taylor in place.
  21. I am unsure if he would qualify for the playoffs based on his call-up time being in September. It was mentioned on the Skor North podcast that he would not qualify.
  22. There is so much that makes no sense to me. - Placing Lewis at 2nd base in September. - Constant platooning/ moving the chess pieces. I have seen the Twins play in four different stadiums this year, and it is so very visible to me that other teams don't do it to that degree. - The lack of TV deal has decreased the fan base. I am out of state but saw the Twins in June in Minneapolis. A veteran Target Field usher told me how he wasn't seeing "the frequent attendees." Many expressed to him how the TV deal mishap made them unattached. - The owner makes an announcement that they will not spend money prior to the season. Well, when you tell your fans that you will not improve the team and fail to have a TV deal, attendance suffers. The arbitration eligible players this offseason include Castro, Ryan, Jax and a couple of other key players. Will the Twins trade rather than spend money?
  23. AS they mentioned on the SKOR North Podcast today, Correa and the Twins have stated nothing about his progress since he made the remark about his planter faucitis (he connected it to his ankle) injury 1 1/2 weeks ago.
