Investment is a vital part of any business. One has to spend money to make money as well as select the right personnel to operate your company. Status quo with no personnel changes when there is a downturn does not work well.

I have a bit of reluctance with letting Maki depart. He had three rookies as starting pitchers, there was no assistance in upgrading the bullpen or at least solid ones, injuries, and I question how much influence he had with the revolving door issue,,,e.g Alcala here one day gone the next, then back again. I also question Watkins who waived people home enough times that influenced the outcome of games. A catcher ended up holding the ball and waited for the runner. The runner would be caught in a hot box between the catcher and 3rd baseman.

Well said. I have been a Twins fan since 1965, but it may be time to switch to the local Padres team where I live. I make an annual trip to see the Twins in MPLS each summer and see them in other locations. If they do nothing to make changes, it may be time to change my allegiance. It will be tough as I saw them in the WS and have a good deal of memorabilia. Right now, I am disgusted. My disappointed started when the young Joe Pohlad stated that they will be not spending money to improve the team last winter which is incredible for an owner to tell the fans. Was it really necessary to make such a public statement? I will wait and see what happens. I need a break as many have stated.

Ken Rosenthal of THE ATHLETIC states that Rocco will return. The Twins would have to pay his salary if they let him go (paying 2 managers is unlikely). He is not going to resign. His lackadaisical laid-back approach hurt the team and even Correa hinted at it a bit. The collapse is mindboggling. They could realistically end up 4th in their division this year. If so, they will have gone from 1st in 2023 to 4th in 2023. As a big fan, I hope the Team does something dramatic to boost their 2025 season.

Well, I had hoped that there would be some type of turnaround. These constant mistakes and lack of so much more (I can never recall the team leaving SO MANY on base as they have this last month) is beyond belief. For me, it is hard to believe that it will be just status quo as usual after this collapse. There has to be changes and a clear focus for 2025. Unless this Caribou coffee Twins cap giveaway is a big draw during "FAN APPRECIATION WEEKEND" (obviously, not a great time to hold that event :), the attendance will be quite low.

In a Way, the Twins Made the Playoffs Last Night
S Bart replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Well...kind of. You didn't mention writing each board members about positive suggestions which is why I added #5. Otherwise, yes. I sincerely believe that contributing thoughts to the Board that runs the operations is beneficial. I am not going to state "FIRE ROCCO" despite the thought of a change in manager might be needed. A well written/thought provoking communication about making them fully understand the whole thing from a fan's perspective is important. One additional item related to your prior comment about owner spending is important to understand in my view and was noted on the SKOR NORTH PODCAST. One has to spend money to make money at times. Attendance is down this year which impacts tickets, concessions, clothing sales, etc. basically the bottom-line net profit. An owner may have to spend money and lose a bit one year, but it can build a team for the future which ultimately produces a higher income profit. On Skor North, they presented successful examples of this taking place with other teams. What took place at the deadline was a key reason why they did poorly in September (in addition the lack of hitting). They attempted to pick up numerous pitchers in September but then released them. They will end up only 1-3 games behind the playoff entrance as of Sunday or HOPEFULLY push through and make the playoffs if their 1991 foe Atlanta wipes up with KC this weekend. I do applaud Correa and Buxton after watching them this weekend in Boston. The games stunk, but I did see effort from the two. Yes...Go Twins. WE may complain and get mad at times, but we would not be fans if we were not on Twins Daily. -

Okay..I will think about contacting them about #4 and see if I can cut a check next month. I will choose #5. As a fan/customer, I do have a right to comment. This format available/being used allows us to take that approach. A person putting forth comments here has the right to comment how they wish. I cheer on the team but offer both positive and negative comments (some strongly) as well as suggestions on players. I am writing the Board members some suggestions as to how I feel as a customer next month. I have already started the letter. The Twins are a product/business that has the word Minnesota on the uniform. They hold themselves out as a type of community organization in many formats. As a customer, I am going to comment as I wish. It's the same way you are putting forth with your numbers and make your comments as you wish. If the negative comments bothers anybody using this posting arena, perhaps you should not look at Twins Daily. Anyway. Go Twins.... -

Agree about Calvin and the Griffiths were a family dynasty. It was a different era when stadiums were named after people or areas and not companies. Regardless, Calvin did care about the team. -
Jim and Joe Pohlad were at the game last night to see the continued implosion. If they do nothing to make changes, it only adds to their modus operandi that they simply do not care. If that is the case, please..don't have these events to show that you care such as the traveling caravan and this "modeling of new uniforms" which is ridiculous. Most of all, don't make out like you care about the state of Minnesota. It is on you. PLEASE POHLADS...DO SOMETHING OR SELL.

It would be wise for him to concentrate on batting practice and improving his play. At times, he comes off as a bit of a showoff such as when he gets a single. He may be a "flash in the pan" if he does not start concentrating on improving as a ballplayer (WORK on batting weaknesses to specific pitches this winter at some type of program). The early grand slams may have enlarged his head a bit.

In a Way, the Twins Made the Playoffs Last Night

To be fair to him, he is a good SS and has hit the last few days. He needs to work on this plantar issue during the winter. He can help support his feet issue by doing some Phy. Rehab. this winter. If it returns and he ends up missing another 2 months of the season next year. You will be correct. He will be a Buxton Part 2. -
The Twins have too many young players and will have to cut ties and trade a few of them. Kiroloff is one and Julien may be another. Besides the hitting issues, he had a good deal of fielding challenges at 2nd base. I am really worried about Miranda playing first base. Santana will be hard to replace. Here, Twins will probably dump Santana due to age. Well, he is the player who leads the team in RBIs and HRs. I am also worried about them retaining Castro who set a record for flexibility at positions and was the only all star representatives. He is due a slary increase and ownership may balk.

Trevor Plouffe gave great insight in the skor north podcast yesterday. Three points to note about Rocco that are accurate that he mentioned. 1. The lefty/righty and righty/lefty emphasis (Rocco) is not proven to be a good move in many cases. 2. Reverse splits are not reliable. 3. Rocco is set in his ways on how he manages. -

And you can get a Caribou Coffee Twins cap this weekend for the fan appreciation promotion. It seems strange to use those 2 words considering the way that the owners have not appreciated the fan base due to their unwillingness to invest in the team this year. Pohlads cut payroll after winning the division (even announce they are cutting spending) mess up a tv deal that prevents fans from watching their team who won their division last season etc..etc.. and now may end up in 4th place. That is a significant drop¡!!!!! Fan appreciation.. give me a break.. -

They will not fire Rocco, since they will have to pay his salary. Besides Popkins and his college coaching background, Watkins should be on that list. Maybe Rocco will at least trim his beard and put forth a respectable managerial appearance next year. -

THe hitting coaches in the dugout seemed at ease as Jeffers walked in the dugout. They look more like truck drivers. The head hitting coach had no major league experience prior to working for this team. -
