  1. Well, he is not a very astute businessman. Skor North podcast from September 30 gives a fact-based background of Joe Pohlad's lack of success (I fact checked it for accuracy) with the past Pohlad businesses. It is pretty, pretty scary having this person on charge of the Twins operation. ...no wonder he is defensive! It is interesting that they did this " selected media event" on Sunday. Also, the media invited were handpicked. Gleeman is astute and the team probably regrets selecting him.
  2. On a different topic, I am going to give a shout out to former Twin Luis Arraez. He won his third batting title. First person to do it for three teams. Also, he took the Triple Crown away from Ohtani. We miss you, Luis! Go Padres!
  3. Interesting to note that a list that I viewed for the start of 2024 lists the Brewers, Guardians (I hate that name), Tigers, and Royals with lower payrolls than the Twins and they all made the playoffs!!!

  5. Minnesota Twins are tone deaf addressing their 2024 season collapse – SKOR North The info. on Joe Pohlad and his failed businesses was completely new to me.
  6. Phil, Judd, and Declan, THANK YOU for your September 30 podcast. You mentioned some facts behind the scenes that gave me a good perspective. Some of these points have not been communicated elsewhere including a few items on the head of the organization. Minnesota Twins are tone deaf addressing their 2024 season collapse – SKOR North
  7. For the most part no, but there have been past postings that have pushed that concept. Sorry, I have been a fan since 1965 and am now a "downtrodden senior citizen" who has cheered them for so many years. I am just so sad at their leadership especially Joe Pohlad who I feel has no reality of the setting. He keeps mentioning business, but this 42-year-old does not seem to have a concept of how to run an operation like the Twins. It's also a community service, and dedication is part of the package. In the words of Field of Dreams, "If you build, they will come."
  8. Most of the team including the manager fell short of expectations.
  9. It is probably time to go across the river to spectate the St. Paul Saints (the Wind Surge, Saints, minor league ball is fun to watch, and they have good promotions). Jenkins should be up to the Saints by the end of the year.
  10. Who is going to play 1st base? Julian has not even been able to tackle 2nd base (Note that Farmer was in that role at the end of the year). Miranda...he has taken a deep dive. Kiriloff was the answer at the start of the season, but he faded fast. They have nobody with experience in that position. It is doubtful that Santana will be retained.
  11. It sounds as if Lewis is firing back at Correa. Did Royce Lewis Call Out Carlos Correa After Minnesota Twins Season Finale? (msn.com) Lewis needs to work on his hitting in the offseason. His numbers are totally off since returning due to other teams knowing the pitches that will strike him out!

  13. For those that think that believe that nobody should talk negatively about the Twins, read the link below from Aaron Gleeman's interview of Twins' president Joe Pohlad, Aaron Gleeman Puts Minnesota Twins Owner on Trial in Epic Back-and-Forth (msn.com)
  14. No disrespect intended, but I laughed loudly at the term "Raising the bar." The whole darn operation needs to raise the bar. The owner complains about not wanting to spend money, the manager makes some serious blunders....a highly paid player, Correa, makes degrading public comments about the young ones not putting forth efforts including batting practice when they need it....etc... RAISE THE BAR...that is an understatement. Regarding Santana, he will not be back. So, that matter makes no difference. Due to his age and salary, he will not be considered. PLEASE compare his replacement (probably a newby at that position) this time next year and compare him to Santana from this year.
  15. I am a Santana fan. Yes, he is 38 but his experiences behind the plate (#1 in RBI's and HR's) and at first base (Gold Glove favorite) were a big plus. I am concerned about the team not renewing his contract for one more year. Taking a chance at the low hitting and sometimes bobbling ball youngsters Miranda or Julian in an important new role for either, gives me the jitters. Kiriloff was a possibility earlier but is now off the table
  16. I will be curious to see if they will keep either of them for next year. Castro will need to receive a bump in salary. He set a record for all of the positions that he played and was versatile beyond belief despite his average dropping at the end. He was also the only player that played on the all-star team. Yes, Santana is 38 but he led the team in RBI's and HR's. Also, he is a favorite to receive a gold glove at 1st base. The team has no experienced players at that position currently. The two are also the switch hitters on the team. I think that Lee may be the only other one on that level.
  17. Well, I have heard from two friends who are not renewing their season tickets due to the team's deterioration. It ranges from the owners to the management and more. Joe Pohlad should be aware that the lack of a desire to invest will impact the net profit in the end. The team went from 1st in 2023 to 4th this year and was rated as a 95% chance of making the playoffs when September started. Somebody PLEASE give Rocco advice on how to use players. His mishaps were of a sufficient number to lose enough games that cost them the playoffs. Corey P. stated in the broadcast today that Falvey was teary eyed during a news conference due to the implosion that took place. DEREK, do your job to ensure that this does not happen in 2025!!! PLEASE.
  18. I know they have hitting and pitching facilities where players can hone their skills during the winter. Is there anything available for managers? There were enough ridiculous bad decisions made by Rocco that were difference makers in the games this year. In fact, there were enough mishaps that steered them from the playoffs. Somebody needs to teach him some basic managing skills. I have been a Twins fan for almost 50 years and have never been so disillusion with a manager. Some of the calls that he has made were mindboggling. Falvey announced that Rocco will be returning in 2025. You can have a team of Ohtanis on your roster but bad calls by the manager will produce loses and can cost a team the playoffs. PLEASE....Rocco...THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX ...status quo as you did in 2024 DID NOT WORK! Go TWINS!
  19. Also...this high salary issue is based on years served and not really performance...Some of the top performing pitchers are not the highest paid.
  20. MLB's highest-paid starting pitchers for 2024 season: Ranking starters by salary - Yahoo Sports Ohtani still is listed as a pitcher and the Dodgers have stated publicly that they may use him as such in that role. I live in the area. He wants to pitch. Don't be surprised if you see him on the mound in 2025, He has been in the bullpen throwing. I have inputted the link....it was posted on March 13 ( Snell was traded on the 20th). Also, his base salary in SF is 15 million with a signing bonus off 17 mill payable in Jan. of 2026 based on what I viewed online. In comparison,
  21. AL LEAGUE AS OF TODAY Starters 6th in strikeouts 8th in innings pitched 5th in wins He had a couple of bad loses that boosted his ERA. It does not help when there is no hitting to help him out. You are right, hopefully his ERA will match the 22 million. Regardless, there are several on the list below that are not pitching at all and some who are making a sum, e.g. Verlander has a 5.55, Scherzer a 3.95 with a 2-4 W/L record.. Corbin a 5.62, DeGroom has pitched 10 innings this year, So, hopefully can surpass those individuals. MLB's highest-paid starting pitchers in 2024 AS OF MARCH, 2024: 1. Los Angeles Dodgers RHP Shohei Ohtani: $70 million 2. Texas Rangers RHP Max Scherzer: $43.3 million 2. Houston Astros RHP Justin Verlander: $43.3 million 4. Texas Rangers RHP Jacob deGrom: $40 million 5. New York Yankees RHP Gerrit Cole: $36 million 6. Washington Nationals LHP Patrick Corbin: $35.4 million 7. Washington Nationals RHP Stephen Strasburg: $35 million 8. New York Yankees LHP Carlos Rodon: $27.8 million 9. Philadelphia Phillies RHP Aaron Nola: $24.5 million 10. Seattle Mariners RHP Luis Castillo: $24.2 million
  22. Aaron Gleeman of THE ATHLETIC “While it would be nice — and some might argue, smart and logical — for ownership to recognize the damage they did and reverse course with a payroll increase to 2023 levels, that’s wishful thinking. Revenues are well short of the team’s internal projections because Target Field attendance is about 300,000 lower than they hoped, the TV situation hasn’t improved and there won’t be any money from playoff games. If the Twins were willing to wreck last season’s goodwill and fan excitement over $30 million, it stands to reason more cuts could be coming.

  24. For me, Pablo Lopez is a class act. It is very sad to see that picture at the top. He is articulate and a great team member who I have never heard complain. He puts forth a good effort and helps out the community through various endeavors. Gracias Pablo.
  25. Some don't like AJ, but his synopsis matches many comments posted on this site. AJ Pierzynski Puts Minnesota Twins on Epic Blast (msn.com) I did not realize that the Twins odds of making the playoffs went from 95% on Sept. 1 and now is 3%. I am unsure who makes those numbers, but it sounds accurate.
