  1. So, Ober has a 2.0 ERA if you eliminate the first start. Ryan currently has a 2.93 and Lopez has a 2,25. That is decent for the first three starters on a team. Here is a real surprise! Who has the second-best ERA in the American League? It is former Twin Tyler Mahle with a 1.19 ERA. WOW, I have a tough time comprehending that thought.
  2. I can only speak from experience. I have been fortunate to meet and have conversations with players ranging from Mantle to Killebrew. Harmon was my all-time favorite, but Clemens was so very kind to my son. He spent time chatting with him and signed his cast. It was memorable.
  3. The Pohlads set a high sale price for the team. I am curious. Do you think that the value of the team is going down in price based on the team's performance? Attendance is down a good bit from last year, and I question if many people are buying merchandise.
  4. I agree and find it sad that even Pete Rose (betting on his own team) still is being excluded. The lack of considering these individuals is one reason baseball has fallen so far behind the NBA, and the NFL in fan support. Pretty soon, pickleball will surpass baseball.
  5. The only enjoyable part of the Friday night game was listening to Roger Clemens' stories on the TV broadcast. Julien over sliding 2nd base and his fielding...ugh.
  6. Below is a copy/paste from a comment that I made last Sunday. As of the end of the games on Thursday night, please note the following: The Twins pitching staff has moved to having the 7th best ERA and the 8th best strikeout record in the MLB. Folks. It does no good when the hitters cannot hit and especially are unable to score with men on base. "Well, the pitching staff has the 10th best ERA and 9th highest strikeout total in baseball which is not bad considering their record. "
  7. Buxton and Boston's Devers currently are tied for the American League lead in strikeouts. I was in Boston last September, and it was a hideous experience for a Twin's fans. There was a rainout followed by a horrible doubleheader for the twinkies :(
  8. Well, the pitching staff has the 10th best ERA and 9th highest strikeout total in baseball which is not bad considering their record. Matthews is waiting in the wings with a 1.93 ERA in AAA. I agree with the comment above. This next week will show if there is a true upward trend. It should be noted that that three starters (Castro, Wallner, Lewis) were on the DL this last week and will not be present this upcoming week.
  9. Fingers crossed...the pitching (especially the starters) has been decent this month. They have the 10th best ERA, and the 9th highest strike out total in MLB. They also have Matthews waiting in the wings with a 1.93 ERA in AAA.
  10. Please...induct him in the 2026 Twins Hall of Fame. This team needs to do a better job of incorporating the old timers into that group. He is a home grown talent from western Minnesota. It would mean a great deal to the fans from that part of the state. You took in the TC's Morris, Mauer,Molitor..how about thinking of the fan support from out west.
  11. The AL team with the worst record lost to the AL team with the second worst record this evening. I agree with the comment about Buxton. I pray that he and the team's new rookie can push others to improve... The team is six games back and have AL CENTRAL #1 Cleveland to play next week.
  12. Please NOTE that my gut reaction is that the Twins (currently 7-15) are in for a long season and a dumping of players via trades may be on the horizon. Nevertheless, it is still early in the season. I looked back at the championship seasons. The '87 Twins were 8-13 in mid-April and the '91 started off 2-9. Unfortunately, I question if the team has the fortitude to have even a 500 season. If there are not good performances against the 5-16 White Sox and the 10-10 fading Angels this week, a good swan song may be in order for the loudspeakers at Target Field.
  13. It is time to move Jax to another role in the bullpen until he can get on track. This 8th inning set-up role simply isn't working. There are other choices. Coulombe or Varland are possibilities, and Stewart is on his way back. The Twins may/will have empty stands next week again.
  14. I get so very frustrated with Buxton and his nonchalant strikeouts. Maybe he should spend more time looking at the ball rather than concentrating on his constant bubble gum chewing. When he does finally get a hit, he has to show off by pulling his BUCK TRUCK HORN.
  15. Can the team demote Baldelli and bring up Gardenhire to manage?
  16. Congrats Carlitos! It is an award that you have deserved for many years!
  17. The Twins have nobody on their staff that have the ability to play 1st like Santana. They probably will put somebody like Miranda or Julian (Big Mistake in my view) in that role due to not renewing Santana...
  18. I don't know this player, but the current options of Miranda, Julian, and Kiroloff (doubt that he will even make the roster) are not decent ones. THE first two have no experience at the position and Julian constantly bobbled the ball at 2nd. Yes, hitting is important BUT so is catching the ball. 1ST base is a key fielding position, obviously. At least Santana had the fielding skills....
  19. What team would want to trade for him with his high salary, repetitive foot issues, and record with the ankle problem which resulted in others rejecting him.? I don't quite comprehend this notion.
  20. This whole idea of the owner wanting/counting on the "up-front money" (as they did with Bally) to plan the payroll is a bit mindboggling to me. If they had GOOD business sense, they may realize that they could concentrate on fan friendly things that would fill the seats, sell the merchandise, etc. televised exposure is one way as well as special promotions (don't mean Bill Vick's disco night :)
  21. If you need to stream, select the one offered by MLB over the Amazon package. I had one in 2023 and the other in 2024. The MLB additional features such as interesting bios. as well as the Hall of Fame ceremony.
  22. Lewis' comment, "I don't do slumps," was followed by a terrific slump. He has made other comments that have been a bit questionable including ones about teammates and coaching decisions. It will be interesting to see if he is truly a force on the team in 2025 or a flash in the pan show off. Personally, the jury is out on him in my view. One thing that he needs to seriously work on this winter is hitting pitches in his strikeout prone areas. Pitchers have figured out his weak zones.
  23. TD must be having a tough time thinking about potential topics.
  24. Falvey graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2005 from Trinity College. A degree in economics is quite different from an MBA.
