  1. Burdi is too violent right now. He can't start and prolong with his current motion. Watch some videos he is all effort. I like the pick if they allow him to fast track providing he does well.
  2. Great article! Thank you! Even more impressed with Stewart after reading this!
  3. So humble. I don't know how you can't be a JO fan after reading this.
  4. If Worley is healthy I expect him to make the team and contribute as the 4th or 5th. I'm convinced he was never healthy. He has had some success at this level and knows what it will take.
  5. I never had a problem with it. Wanted the Twins to do more though. Like I stated last year.... $5mil don't get you Cy Young in today's game. It gets you Kevin Correia. I also felt at times Gardy left him to die on the vine. Might have saved him 4-6 earned runs. But I have my own beliefs on certain types of pitchers and hitter adjustments after a few times through the lineup.
  6. I don't see that. He's two years younger than Hudson and he is durable, having pitched less than 200 innings only once in the last nine years(and it was 199 innings). If I had to guess I would think that he gets somewhere in the neighborhood of 3/$33-$39 mil. IMO he is undervalued and certain metrics don't calculate his value properly.
  7. I respect the opinion you have but I'm sorry cocaine may be considered an upper for a short time but the prolonged use is far from performing enhancing. IMO you don't use cocaine to get better at things. You use it to party.
  8. I like it! Any truth to the rumors that he and Gardy don't always see eye to eye?
  9. You can spin it as a lie if that is the way you choose to read it. He's not going to come out and say we got a 28 yr old tomato can who has mediocre track record at the Major League level. It's not the way the PR game works. I mean what do people expect him to say. "He's roster filler. Never really hit in the major's. Has a weak arm. Terrible plate discipline with Major League breaking balls. Should help Rochester be competitive once Hicks takes the job back." He's going to talk about positives. He's not going to come out and say Presley is a stop gap until Hicks or Buxton is ready. If they sold Powerball tickets on the basis that your chance of winning the jackpot is 1 in 1billion how many you going to buy?
  10. What else is he going to say? 85% of fans have no idea what Presley has done in AAA. All they know is that he was the reward for one of the most popular Twins players of the last 15 years. He also played decent when he got some time here. Whether you, me, and 90% of the members here believe Presley is nothing more than a 4th or 5th OF TR is going to have to appeal to the masses. We are not the masses.
  11. John I am 100% with Parker on this one. I also believe they thought that the pitching was in a better position than it turned out to be. I think that the consensus was that Worley and Gibson would provide some positive innings. That Deduno would have not been hurt and that Diamond would not have been coal. I really don't think there can be a winner in this discussion because both points are relevant to a degree. Although I am mad at myself for having a bad attitude about going to games at TF when he pitched. He was pretty decent there this year.
  12. I think for what we had in the cupboard and what we wanted to spend, KC was valuable. I would have much rather he pitched out of the 4 or 5 hole but with this staff he was forced to be a front end guy. He did I expected him to do: take the ball, eat up some innings, pitch quick, and be decent. I was never for the signing but I didn't think it needed to be crucified like many others did.
  13. I'm torn but....If by drafting Appel and signing him you basically ruin the rest of your draft I am not for it, unless he is Verlander 2.0. I think I would rather gamble on Gray or Stewart and get some better prospects in the top 10 rounds. I think last year was a prime example of how a good draft can quickly infuse a minor league system.
  14. Kool aid drinkers everywhere my friend.
  15. I'm fine with that. Rest can't hurt unless we are in the pennant race and I don't like the chances this year.
  16. I am more mixed on Gibson than Hicks. I think if Hicks continues to have a productive spring he needs to be with the big club. What he brings to the table is something we don't have available in any of the other options. He seems like a smart and level headed kid who can handle the ups and downs that will more than likely come this season. You take a look at players like Adam Jones and Austin Jackson from Detroit who went through struggles but their respective teams showed faith and confidence in them. I think Hicks is pretty close in talent to those guys. If they are going to leave Gibson as a starter and not follow Kris Medlen's approach from last year I would hate to see any innings wasted in AAA rather than Gibson getting adjusted to the ML hitters. But you can't run him out there if he is terrible. I would much rather have him up here with the better coaching and medical staff TBH.
  17. The size issues remind of someone who also went in the compensation round and made me absolutely torqued when the Twins didn't grab him...Gio Gonzalez. Hopefully he is challenged this year and responds well. He seems like a great mature kid.
  18. Man! So many good Herbie memories. His GS in the Series, the Gant play, his awesome defense, bp shows, how happy he seemed to be playing the game he loved, etc. I met Herbie in my hometown when he used to go fishing with my best friends uncle. Just a snot nosed kid bothering him with baseball and fishing questions. The next year I was at the dome with my dad and on the wall by the Twins dugout and Herbie recognized me and said "hello" and asked if "I was catching any fish?". I was the envy of every other kid there. Always stuck with me that such a big time athlete could be so nice. That is my favorite Herbie memory.
  19. Thanks for the article Seth! I really hope Dozier takes the bull by the horns and is starting in the MI on opening day. I think of our current cast of players he has the offensive upside to help us win games.
  20. I guess I look at it a little different. I'm pretty excited about some of the things that are setting up to play out in the next year or two. I was born in the 70's and my first memories were in the early to mid 80's and seeing things like Kirby's infectious smile are drilled into my knoggin. I'm fine with all the moves, or lack there of, that happened this off season. Sure I think they could have done more however I think that it sets things up to get us some of the younger guys to the big leagues sooner and show what they have. When we start winning again it will be because of the home grown talent we cultivated or used to acquire other talent.
  21. I had season tickets in the 90's when they were terrible and I will have season tickets again this year even though they are going to be terrible. Even though we won't be competitive there are still many things I look forward to watching and see develop. And if by some stroke of luck we do compete this year than it's a bonus for me.
  22. First time I have ordered the handbook and I really enjoyed it! More info than I expected! Thanks a bunch!
  23. I remember and maybe just hope things get finalized without some pre-determined outcome. So maybe against my better judgement I won't agree totally with you
  24. I don't know if I totally agree with that but... I can see Dozier having a very good spring and him starting the season AAA so as he doesn't have extra pressure on himself. Not that I would like that move.
