  1. Mhm. Since the mods and the twerp seem to differ on what's appropriate and not, oh never-mind.
  2. I bet if you really followed the Rays with the same passion you followed the Twins, Maddon would drive you just as nuts. I agree he's the best of the bunch, by the way. But hop over to a Rays board and you find just as many 'Maddon is the reason we don't win it all' posts.
  3. Mike-Fish-Names are all the rage right now.
  4. Well, considering you are a moderator and don't see anything inappropriate about the comment, what would be the point of reporting it to you?
  5. It's a minor league signing with no invite to big league camp. They do need to fill out their rotation at AA and AAA.
  6. I would have liked to see Scotty succeed here. I just never really saw it happening.
  7. First, they need to get to .500. Then they need to make it to the playoffs. Then they need to succeed in the playoffs. They have all those goals for this year, but there's no sense in making grand proclamations about playoffs in the face of 190 losses. Of course they want to win the world series this year. That's every baseball person's goal every year. Doing so will take a level of play across the whole team that they've only seen in a few players thus far. Does that mean it can't happen? No. Does it mean it's likely to happen? Nope. Gardy just makes sure his comments aren't too much all the time. It's just how he talks to the press.
  8. If all you see from the Twins offseason is 'hope', then you're bad at your job, Bob.
  9. Yes, that's totally what Gardy was saying. He liked going to the playoffs and losing.
  10. Might not want to quote a character line that was written to make him look like a misanthrope to support your position.
  11. The issue with Dozier had more to do with the 'eye' test after his mistakes. He would make a big E, and then slouch. Florimon makes an E and goes after the next play with the same energy. Dozier also was called out for poor positioning on cut offs and such repeatedly.
  12. Signing free agent pitchers to long deals usually results in overpaying even for pretty good performance, and is usually a terrible deal for the team that does it. Win a world series or two on the strength of the sign and it works out. For every CC there is a Kevin Brown and Carl Pavano.
  13. You no help me hit curveball. Well I say, get allstate, Jobu.
  14. How? Do you have any concept of how really really bad Cleveland was last year? They out performed their pyrec by 4 games and only won 68.
  15. Kansas City a couple years back. Dick mentioned it repeatedly the whole season. He was utterly fascinated by it.
  16. Obviously you wouldn't do this in a regular scenario where your top pitchers had a record of going deep into games and deep into seasons. his is a way to try to massage what you have. When you're trying to do more with less, you sometimes need to do things differently.
  17. LOL this is the same as going to read something and failing to comprehed. I am saying that the Twins are just as talented as the 3 other relatively talent-free teams that will fight for the AL central basement. Obviously ther are all sorts of good teams in baseball, just not in the AL central.
  18. August.Alex Wimmers, Minnesota Twins' top pick in 2010 draft, has Tommy John surgery - TwinCities.com
  19. Poor guy is following in Gibson's steps. He's doing the Tommy John recovery thing this year.
  20. I'm looking at the rosters. I'm not seeing any really talented teams out there.
  21. The Twins outlook isn't surefire rosy, but this is a crap article. They have at least as much on-field talent as every team in the division except Detroit. That isn't saying much, I know.
  22. When I hear that Roger Dorn is a cartoon parody and over the top, I am reminded of a few people. Manny Ramirez, Albert Belle, Milton Bradley, Alex Rodriguez, to name a few. These are real people with real lack of self awareness who are much more outrageous than anything Dorn pulled in the movies.
  23. I'm sure the reason they're considering Redwings or EST is to prevent the arb clock from ticking when he's not really producing for the team. If they have him do the Rockies thing, you're blowing service time on what amounts to rehab. While it's pretty silly to worry about a 25 year old's service time, there isn't any sense to use it that way. It's sensible to hang on to pitchers you think are going to be good. through that age 31 season anyway. Although, has his clock already started by virtue of being on the 60 Day DL?
  24. If Hicks is the best CF the Twins have, he better be starting in CF on April 1. If during spring it looks like playing in a league half full of guys who can't hack it in the bigs would be good for him, then do that. Team control is foolish to worry over about a 23 year old. You get 6 years. He'll be 29 when he's entering his first FA season. A guy with all the tools that Hicks has can actually add quite a few wins in early season match-ups when balls aren't jumping as far and pitchers are still shaking off the rust.
