    Once upon a time there was a light hitting utility player named Ron Gardenhire that was leading the national league in batting average. Early numbers are nice when they look good. Like the Twins being 2-0 instead of 0-2. Or a closer not giving up a run in the ninth for an ERA of 0.00 verses giving up one run for an ERA of 9.0.

    The Twins hitters look overmatched almost every game. The Twins pitchers look overmatched almost every game. Assuming each team has the same amount of desire to win the game, the Twins look bad this spring.

    While I was hoping for a top starter to join the Twins over the winter, I can understand the front office's hesitation at signing a free agent. Just announced today: At 19 million plus a year, and even though it's barely spring training it makes you wonder how long he knew he would need surgery.

    why not just go with Fubo instead of both subscriptions? Fubo has local channels and a host of other channels.

    Thanks, that's what I have done. I now have Fubo for $79.00 per month to watch the twins and have local TV. I can live with that.

    Snell. If you're going all in I want a guy with the potential of six perfect innings and let 3 relievers get the rest of the outs. But no way I give him the option of collaring the club with potentially 3 years of bilateral leg weakness if he sucks verses 1 year of greatness and he is gone.

    Willi Castro is 26 and not considered young. Yet these players are considered young. Miranda will be 26 in June. Wallner is 26. Martin will be 25 in March. Julien in April. Lewis in June. I think MLB experience counts more for age defining than age. The same paradox as age supposedly defining maturity. Years ago the much ballyhooed Alex Meyer was considered young while Rick Porcello was the same age and had racked up dozens of major league wins.

    At today's current value of starting pitching I think the Marlins and every other team wants 3 names on the "don't want to trade " list. Every trade proposal conjured up on this and other Twins fans sites only list players WE would be willing to trade. In my observations if it does not hurt, it's not going to happen. If it's going to hurt might as well go for Luzardo.

    I literally cut my cable a couple of days before this Balleys deal was announced. I gambled that I would be able to stream the Twins games and not have to pay such an exorbitant price for TV. Looks like I'll have time for long walks in the summer evenings.

    DeScalfini makes 12 million, Polanco makes 10. or 10.5, I forget which. I imagine the cash is the salary difference.

    DeSclafani reminds me of Scott Klingenbeck. Bring your glove to Target Field if you sit in the outfield bleachers. Hopefully with the cash return the Twins have a major announcement soon............

    We keep our accounts separate. Her money is her money and my money is her money. Me thinks Gordon should be taking the $900,000 before he ends up with a minor league deal with the Oakland A's. If Buxton is for real going to man center Gordon will probably be the utility guy out of a job.

    I realize this is a projection article but it's too early to say these are bad contracts. Injuries have in a big way impacted 3 of the 4 players mentioned and Vasquez's contract is todays going rate for a good veteran catcher. After watching Gary Sanchez wail away for a full year I like Vasquez behind the plate for the same money.
