  1. The usage of Kintzler didn't make any sense to me. Bring him in with one out because he's a groundball guy and you need two outs. With two outs, bring in someone who can strike him out. In that case, that's Duffey.
  2. None of those are interesting enough for me to even move on from guys in the current bullpen. At least not in light of how much they're getting or in terms of multiple years.
  3. I still think closers have to strike people out. Kintzler doesn't do that at all.
  4. There was no reason to sign a closer, nor was there really a good one available. Signing Neftali Feliz doesn't really move the needle for me.
  5. I'd rather use him in the sixth inning with one on and one out or in a tighter situation with the game on the line. I get what you're saying, but his penchant for grounders is more useful elsewhere, IMO. In this situation, I'd put Duffey in the closer's role, move Kintzler to sixth innings/pressure spots and let Pressly set up.
  6. Less sure about this today. Didn't like how he used Rogers, Kintzler and/or not Duffey today.
  7. Not on the road trip, but did a periscope chat today: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/replay-mntwins-periscope-chat-with-brandon-warne/
  8. I can not emphasize enough how nice that is to hear. thank you so much
  9. If you like my coverage, the postgame story from today will be right up your alley. Put a TON of work into this: https://t.co/18G7HSODFN
  10. Here's today's pregame notes: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/45-pregame-notes-twins-look-for-a-winning-streak-to-open-the-season/
  11. Thanks. I do that for every game I cover.
  12. Did an Opening Day periscope chat too. Sorry about my face: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/replay-minnesota-twins-opening-day-periscope-with-brandon-warne/
  13. Of course. He's still not particularly special or anything, though. It hurts that he was a college arm who had all those lost years due to command, too
  14. Meant to post this earlier: Here's my postgame coverage. You may find it a bit different than everyone else's. Hopefully that's a good thing! https://t.co/SplaeP9IX2
  15. In case you don't see these on Twitter and Facebook, I'm going to share my pre and postgame stuff from Zone Coverage in this thread. Here's the Opening Day pregame blog: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/43-twins-seek-opening-day-win-for-first-time-since-2008/ As always, chatter is greatly appreciated!
  16. Check the date on the post. It was before Mejia won the job.
  17. This week we found the footage of Game 7 of the 1965 World Series: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/twins-flashback-friday-sandy-koufax-says-here-take-this-l/
  18. Uh, Wimmers is a 28-year-old career minor leaguer who they threw a bone last year and he pitched only decently. Let's not pretend he's anything more than that. His future in the big leagues is as a long guy. He's 373 days OLDER than Michael Tonkin.
  19. We're having a little #MarchMadness-related fun at Zone Coverage. Why not come over and vote in our Greatest Twins Bracket? http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/help-zone-coverage-name-the-greatest-twin-of-all-time-pitchers/ hitters will be up later tonight
  20. I might take a run at Jared Hughes, who was just released by Pittsburgh. Throws hard, has a good slider and keeps the ball on ground/in the park. He's a lot like Kintzler, but for cheap that's not a bad deal.
  21. Suspect he'll work out of the pen. I think the rotation at Rochester will be: Berrios Mejia Wheeler Tepesch Rucinski With Slegers in the mix somewhere, too.
  22. As Triple-A fodder and emergency SP/RP depth....it'll do.
  23. I want a guy like that putting out fires in the sixth, not creating them in the ninth.
