  4. Anybody who claims to know is lying to you. It'll probably come down to an injury or something.
  5. here's today's pregame story: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/418-pregame-notes-hughes-vs-tomlin-early-work-and-tales-of-a-converted-reliever/
  6. I just like the offensive approach better. It's about tools instead of results for me. I agree that Rosario has played better, but I think he'll also get fewer chances in the modern MLB.
  7. I'm not totally sure about this. I think Hicks is better than or at least has the tools to be better than Rosario, Arcia and Santana.
  8. This should come with a small sample size trigger warning. Either way, I hated the deal at the time, but I at least understood it. Finding a catcher is really difficult, and I actually sort of like the idea of finding an unheralded guy stuck behind a great player (McCann) and a great prospect (take your pick, Sanchez or even Romine). The process was right here. The Twins sold high on Hicks and bought low on Murphy. It just hasn't worked out. But ask Yankee fans with half a brain, and they'd say the same thing.
  9. Just a short game story because I went to today's game as a fan: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/416-game-notes-pressly-victimized-by-long-ball-again-in-extra-inning-loss/
  10. Here's today's daily podcast, as I chatted with Phil Hughes about his recovery from offseason surgery: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/mws-daily-happy-easter-brandon-chats-with-phil-hughes-on-reinventing-himself/
  11. Here's today's final game story: https://t.co/5C4Kl7JpBp
  12. Thanks guys. Again, I can not emphasize enough how nice this is since we don't get a ton of comments at the site.
  13. Full postgame story as the Twins fall, 2-1: https://t.co/qBv5XPDTDI
  14. Here's tonight's pre-game story: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/414-pregame-notes-mejia-vs-covey-the-heart-of-29-twins-seek-7-3-start-for-first-time-since-2010/
  15. That's not really what I'm saying. You can alter the leverage in which you put other pitchers in. The ninth inning isn't quite the same. Nevertheless, I'm saying all things considered, I'd rather not spend $15 million on a closer if it's my money. That's all.
  16. Latest ep: http://zonecoverage.com/2017/twins/mws-brandon-and-tom-break-down-the-twins-hot-start/
  17. Greg Holland isn't close to as good as they are. But frankly, the difference between them and him -- when healthy -- is what, a win per season?
  18. Does a closer with iffy health help a team win a lot of games? I'll hang up and listen.
  19. He signed late and with the Rockies, who had a bad offseason in terms of spending. Maybe the market disagrees with me, but I don't really care either way. There are way better ways to improve the Twins for $10.5 million per year than on a closer.
  20. I know it's an option vesting based on performance. I just wouldn't want to pay him $15 million for any reason. I don't believe any closer is worth that, really.
  21. Even if he is, that was a pretty big gamble. I don't have any interest in paying him $15 million next year -- good or not.
  22. I think I'd use him there. By looking at Feliz's numbers from last year, I'm getting a distinct Michael Tonkin vibe.
  23. Feliz last year: 3.52 ERA, 4.53 (!!) FIP He's fool's gold. 85.4 percent strand rate 1.7 HR/9 (insane) .240 BABIP Opposing batters hit .207/.287/.409 against him last year. Normalized with any sort of a BABIP, he'd have gotten smoked. I don't think he made any sense for the Twins
  24. Duffey has value as a multi-inning guy for sure, I won't dispute that, but in a spot where you only need to get an out, that shouldn't preclude you from using him there, either.
