  1. Love the site! Thank you
  2. Not if your dreamy expectations are ridiculous and unattainable. Its nice to dream big, but those dreams still need to be grounded in reality. Goals/dreams are important, but they won't make your roster better than it actually is....and if your expectations are too high, you'll never reach them. Frustration is the end result in that scenario. Expectations for the 2013 Twins are right where they need to be. No one should be expecting much, and a goal of 75 wins is attainable, but will probably be a challenge for this squad I understand, you want World Series titles. But even a few years down the road, that may be unattainable. A realistic vision for this ORG would be to imagine another prolonged streak of division titles starting around 2015-16. I wouldn't expect any WS rings, unless you want to be continually frustrated for the next 10 years.
  3. Push him up fast! He can learn 3B while he drops bombs in Target Field
  4. Yes John, one paragraph of my blog entry was dedicated to that very point you tried to make.
  5. Wow, this is surprisingly similar to my post from January 12, 2013: Cold Predictions - Blogs - Minnesota Twins News & Rumors Forum I followed it up with 11-20 here: David Arias is Back! - Blogs - Minnesota Twins News & Rumors Forum Thank you for giving some recognition to Polanco, although I do not see Sano moving multiple levels this year. Wrong organization for that.
  6. We certainly will suck in 2013. And there is a 1 in 4 chance of error on that statement.
  7. Whoa...I thought I was optimistic. We have 10 guys that could be "solid"?? No way. Unless we have a very different definition of "solid." If you replace "solid" with "average", then I could see your point of view. But no way do we have any potential for an above average rotation. No chance. "Solid" means productive, when referring to a ball player. We have 10 very "below average" candidates for our "Ace" role. haha
  8. Oh man...we need more stuff to burn
  9. Bitter winter, will you not yield us a half-ways decent pitcher?
  10. This is a great post. I mirrored your thoughts about ERA here last fall. I agree that we should not be closed-minded and focus on one stat for any player. But, for pitchers, ERA would be the one to separate those with equal IP "I think about baseball a lot, and ERA is the MOST important stat for a pitcher in my opinion. Your starter's ERA is what you're facing, on average, as an offense (until or if the starter exits, obviously)." - me.
  11. Nope. Not better than last year. Somehow, this post from last November is still how I feel about our pitching staff. Marooned in some frozen wasteland (like the financial assets of the Pohlads).
  12. Remember, this was posted in November....before any of the trades or FA signings of 2013. How can this still be relevant? Did we get anyone better than these four that is MLB ready?
  13. Somehow, THIS is still relevant. Even after the numerous trades and free-agent signings...these four are still my best bet to stick long-term.
  14. Eh, Diamond's absence would allow us to evaluate someone else. We're not going to be winning, with or without Scotty D. So give him all the time he needs. He's not a real ace anyway, just a desperate attempt to fill the "ace role" with a surely awful pitching club in 2013
  15. So if Buxton is 7 for speed, who could possibly be an 8? Sano has 7 power right now, with 8 potential
  16. Where the heck is Zach Jones??
  17. Yeah, you're right. I am wrong. Weird. Well, I wouldn't give those ratings much creedence, since Hicks is most definitely a 70 arm, or 7. Whatever.
  18. Its a 1-7 grading scale, not a 20-80 scale.
  19. Dont forget Harrison and Kepler. They're big, and their power will show up once they reach their mid-20's. Could be a damm good line-up by 2016-2017
  20. Wouldn't we want someone to take over the closer role quickly? (like a college reliever) So that Perk can resume his awesomeness as a set-up guy?
  21. At least this list implies a certain level of competence for whoever made it. The list from about two weeks ago....Woof!
  22. Roberts is a top-20 prospect in my opinion, I have him at #11. And I follow the minor leagues religiously.
  23. No real reason for optimism until 2015 when we have a deeper pitching staff. BUT, I am very optimistic about the farm system as it stands now with another top-5 pick to be added.
