Well Topps does have it available where you can make your own custom cards, unfortunately the 1960 regular card is not an option. I actually have played around with the idea of making a GCL set or two and getting the guys to sign them as I have portrait pics of pretty much all of t hem, I know they'd love it but it's actually more coin than what one would think unless it's mass ordered.

I'm a huge Vasquez fan, have been since they drafted him. He's one of those new age cases, as he pitches off his breaking balls (been told by other Twins' pitchers it's 2 different sliders although one looks like a curve) instead of his fastball and it works for him. Here area a couple of videos I took of Andrew over the past two years or so Game action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCj9GcfYD84 One of his first times pitching professionally in GCL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAWn6vqL2Mw Side Session Work with Virgil Vasquez https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOvB5Z3Hsnk

Yes, they did. Here's what BA had to say about him before the draft: And what they said about him after the the 2016 season: The 18-year-old struggled offensively in his debut in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, but the Twins view his hit tool as one of the best in their draft class, envisioning him in a similar vein as Travis Blankenhorn. Like Blankenhorn, Miranda has a smooth swing and advanced bat-to-ball skills and the chance for average or better power as he physically develops. And also like Blankenhorn, Miranda faces a likely move off shortstop. Though Miranda showed smooth actions and hands at short in the GCL, most evaluators project him to outgrow the position and slide over to third base, where his average arm should be sufficient. His carrying tool is his bat, and he will try to rebound in 2017. In my opinion, Miranda at this time last year (in GCL) was a better defensive SS than what Lewis is, if that gives you an indication on either's defensive abilities.

Yes both Enlow and Leach are signed, Enlow is in the GCL and dresses with the team. Currently Blayne is building arm strength back up after a long layoff from pitching. He should be making his debut in a week or so. As for Leach, I heard there were visa hangups on why he wasn't in camp as of yet.

From what I've seen Lewis is a present day 35-40 SS with possible 50 grade in future. He needs alot of footwork and fundamental work to stay at SS but not impossible. Working in his favor is a strong work ethic, he's one of the first one's out on the field for the GCL games and he's the absolute last one to leave. Even with his excellent speed, there's been balls up the middle and 3B-SS hole that players with more experience get to. His arm strength is a plus although he throws like an outfielder and not an infielder. One of my biggest mechanical pet peeves is his is the crowhop, jumphop whatever you want to call it that utilizes at short with nearly every groundball that he takes in. In summation, he can pass at short for now, he needs alot of work to get it done in upper levels but not out of the realm of possibility.

I was at the game and Twins fans should be happy not only for the 1 for 3 at the plate leading off but also played a solid SS. Lord knows his replacement later in the game Bo Bichette is definitely not a SS in the future

While at the game, it sounded like Royce is getting moved up the ladder soon. Like got pulled into the Manager Ramon Borrego's office before the game and told your getting promoted soon.

Talking with DJ, a lefthanded swinging Rondell White comp came up for Akil, 20/20 ability with a strong contact and plate recognition.

If Lewis and Baddoo keep up their pace and are still in GCL in two weeks I'd be very surprised. Deron Johnson sat by me yesterday and we chatted it up about a few of the GCL prospects (Lewis, Baddoo, Robles, Tademo, Graterol, B. Rodriguez) . He asked what I thought about Akil and Royce, told him Baddoo was killing it with his power/speed combo and improved plate discipline and that Lewis was better than advertised. It sounds like DJ was a big pusher of the Twins drafting Lewis. This is his first weekend seeing the GCL kids in action, as he'll also be scouting the Miracle as well. Side note, DJ asked for no pictures as he was wearing shorts to the 100+ degree ballgame, out of respect to his former bosses Terry Ryan and Bill Smith, who apparently had a no shorts policy.

I was at the game, sitting with the scorekeeper and a few of the Twins' pitchers when this took place and I was a little befuddled by it as well. But as the scorekeeper put it, thru 9 innings it's already taken 3 hrs and 15 minutes and the Rays only brought XX pitchers. I asked the scorekeeper if there was any rule on who could be the runner, and he said he knows of no rule on who can be the runner. What I learned from it, don't do what the Rays did and that was trying to bunt over the man on second and it resulted in a quick out at third and before you knew it the top half of the 10th was over. That's when it became apparent in my mind, well you throw Lewis out there on second and all you need is a basehit and he scores. In the end it didn't matter as Baddoo parked the ball over the rightfield wall.

Baddoo is a legit prospect, he just gets lost in the shuffle with all the Twins recent upper draft picks, but remember Akil was taken 74th overall just a year ago out of HS. The kid has a serious power/speed combo package. I was a little shocked he started the year in the GCL as he looks ready for more of a challenge

I just imagine Harry Caray from my childhood, I can see it now, "His name backwards is Radsurb Loretarg" Then the camera pans to the hot girls in the bleachers, "Oh, to be that young and know what I know now". I miss Harry

One, Jelfry Marte, is staying a SS, arguably the most important defensive position to fill while the other three are not. Mauricio, Valera, and Rodriguez all have higher offensive projection and physical growth projection which is why BA has them ranked where they do and Marte at 13. The Twins financially valued a bonafide SS who might develop as a hitter than other clubs.

Well rehabber Beardsley started and went 2 IP, Graterol came in later and went 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 HR, 1 BB, 8 K. Bizzle did not get into the game hopefully he'll throw tomorrow.

I was just at the Centurylink Complex grabbing GCL rosters and schedules, it wasn't raining at the time (nor is it now) but we got dumped on in the hours leading up to the game. Unfortunately for the next week or so it's looking about the same for heavy PM showers around game time. Which kind of sucks for the Miracle gatebox as this is "Tebow Weekend" with the former Gators QB in town Friday-Monday with the St. Lucie Mets.

No, his FB velo went up thru the year that's well documented. He fell to the Twins due to signing concerns and demands. Here's what BA had to say about him. Most top HS pitchers are two pitch pitchers at this point, hell a good portion are one pitch pitchers at 18. He's starting off in the GCL and has plenty of time to develop, a great buy by the Twins.

Theo was able to make the trades because he had the parts to deal from expiring contracts and one year contracts to playoff contenders. He also got extremely lucky or had scouts that were great evaluators. In a two year stretch they dealt SP Scott Feldman who they signed as a reclamation project for a soon to be released SP Jake Arrieta and sputtering pen arm in Pedro Strop. They traded SP Jeff Samardzija's expiring contract and SP Jason Hammel (who they signed as a reclamation project) for prospects SS Addison Russell, OF Billy McKinney and SP Dan Straily. Ryan Dempster's expiring contract netted SP Kyle Hendricks and 3B Christian Villeneva. SP Matt Garza's expiring contract netted RP Carl Edwards Jr, RP Justin Grimm and 3B Mike Olt. But the one that got it all going was trading their "ace" cost controlled pitcher SP Andrew Cashner to the Padres for the sputtering 1B prospect Anthony Rizzo. The overall trend in those deals other than Epstein winning in Hindsight was that the Cubs dealt pitching over and over again especially ones they were not going to keep in the future. Honestly the worst thing that happened to the Twins was starting off the season hot and playing in 1st place for so long in 2017. It would make it much more palatable to deal off Ervin Santana and Brian Dozier and other spare parts if the team was at .500 or below. But barring a complete implosion in July that's not going to happen which in turn hurts the team in the future.

As a Cubs fan who went thru several early round draft selections over the years, all I can tell you is trust that the new FO knows what they are doing. When asked about drafting success, I believe Theo Epstein had remarked the team studies showed that positional players are easier to evaluate in the draft process then pitching. The volatility of SP is just so rampant in the draft that there is a higher likelihood that the positional players pans out more than said pitcher. And always remember with a plethora of positional players, they can be dealt for pitching.

Fastball, Slider mostly but he does have a curveball that he's working on. Oddly, no talk of a changeup as of yet.
